Volunteered with CHIA for a long time and absolutely loved my time here. I volunteered at the communications department where I learnt about fundraising activities and international communication leads. The team consists of lovely staff who do everything in their power to reach a maximum amount of children. The children who join us at the POD - Program of Development - show progress and seem healthy and well taken care off.
Whilst staying in HoiAn I wanted to volunteer somewhere to give back to this beautiful country. After researching my options I visited CHIA and immediately knew that this was the place for me. I spent some time with the disabled children who spend each day at CHIA doing physical therapy, craft and early educational activities. Then I, a primary school teacher, was asked to run an English language class for the kids sponsored by CHIA. This was in July, school holidays and yet the children came three times a week full of enthusiasm. I had a wonderful time with these awesome kids and met their grateful parents.
While there I also got to learn about the many diverse programs the CHIA staff coordinate - health, housing and education sponsorship initiatives for the poor, as well as looking after the disabled children of HoiAn. Well done CHIA.
It was a really great chance for me to do volunteer at CHIA. I have met so many friendly volunteers, donors and supportive staff, especially adorable children at CHIA. Being a volunteer for a short term, I have acquired a lot of experience of communication and activity management. Meeting new friends, going for field trip and supporting a range of activities have helped me learn more about living conditions, environment and diversity of culture. Let's share your great moment at CHIA!
