THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!! staff are irresponsible and degrade the children. Staff are borderline ABUSIVE, and nobody does anything about it.
If it had not been for the orphanage providing validation for my hard work, I don't know where I'd be today. - Dr. Noah H. Kersey, Ph.D.

It has been my honor to volunteer with The Children's Home for the past four years. This organization reaches 15,000 kids each through its various programs, including a therapeutic on-campus facility, foster homes, sponsoring kinship families and so much more. I wish I could do more than I do, and I know that they appreciate all the help from our community.
The Children's Home has a Kinship Care Program to support relatives caring for the children of relatives. Everything from food to clothing, tutoring to legal aid. Very good program that keeps children with their families
There are almost 10,000 not for profit agencies in the Tampa market some good, many great and every now and then you find an organization that is outstanding. I feel that The Children's Home is one of the outstandiung charities in the area. I recently took a tour of their campus and was amazed at how big they are, the number of programs they run and how many people they impact in our community.
They have four cottages which abused and abandoned children call home. The kids receive 24 hour care as the staff helps them heal from horrible situations that bring tears to your eyes. The stories of these children moving from this program into forster of orther homes is pretty cool. They have a great success rate.
Another program they have is called Kinship Care which helps a relative receive help is they are taking care of the kids of a son or daughter who can't anymore. I can't image the challenges that a person on a fixed income would face when they discover two teenagers are now in their care.
They also have a couple programs that help kids be ready for school and I know that a child needs to know a lot more than I did when they start kindergarten and The Children's Home families have a very high percentage of kids that are school ready. Way to go! Keep up the great work.
The Children's Home is an amazing place in Tampa. The campus is beautiful, the staff is caring and the kids they work with so deserving. You owe it to yourself to find out more about this great place. Their CEO and entire staff share such passion to help children and families in our area.
This is one charity that everyone should consider making a gift to. They help so many and I am sure they could do even more with your support!
Well we are a 501c3 outfit located in Sun City Center. Fl. We are the sawdust engineers and work with wood. A few years ago a member donated a sum of money to help build the craft shop on the childrens campus. Then some members built foot lockers for the children to store theid clothing and personal gear. Well 2 yrs ago I happen to find one of these buitful made lockers ,complete with dovetail joinery. So an e-mail was put in to the childrens home to see if they could use any more lockers. Well Tom e-mailed back that there was no need for anymore lockers, however he did have a list of needed items. Well this set off a very enjoyable journey to try and make life a little easier for the children. Firsrt was the 12 cubbies they requested and with the generous help from all wood cabinets here in Ruskin we were able to fill the first of the 3 request. Next Tom had asked for 12 adrondak chairs, Well it took a little time to raise the $ for the wood but with a generous donation from the sewing club here in Sun City Center were able to build all 12 . So now each home has two chairs outside their front door. Next came the third. Could you build 5 Picnic tables with benches. Well we did manage to find the money for the wood again. (These old folks sure came thru with the finincal help) Now each home has a buitful table to enjoy. And the generosity did not stop ther. Some donated their golf clubs as they failed to produce that par 72 score the owners were so use to getting from them. Then the tennis rackets and tennis balls . We are a very diverse gruop of retired people here that only have to be asked for help . Show them what your needs are and befor long someone will be working on it. I cannot say enough about group. First class all the way. So if you are thinking "what can I do for them " just ask. I am sure they will put you in contact with other people who can use your help . Just remember , it is for the children. Lets the children know that there are people who do care about them. You will enjoy the experience.
