Mission: The mission of medical development for israel inc. (mdi) is to raise and administer funds for schneider children medical center of israel (scmci), israel's only hospital exclusively dedicated to the healthcare of all children, through the promotion of medical research, projects, programs, equipment, research and capital projects.
Programs: Medical research- scmci performs research in all its departments and some of the research areas funded by mdi include: diabetes, stem cell therapy as a substitute for chemotherapy treatment of specific childhood cancers. Mdi also funds multiple programs, such as anxiety disorders clinic, child development, crisis intervention, endocrinology/diabetes, foreign language social workers, hematology/oncology, nurse training, pain management, pediatric cardiac catheterization unit, and the anxiety trauma and stress center (psychiatry). Some of the important research currently being funded includes an artificial pancreas project within the diabetes and endocrinology department.
education and training- these are critical to maintaining scmci's ability to deliver the best pediatric care. Partnering with doctors from all over the world, we bring the best and brightest professionals, to teach new medical procedures, protocols and techniques. Scmci in turn, trains residents from every continent, at the hospital and on location, expanding the understanding of pediatric practices all over the world.
construction and medical equipment- scmci is currently undergoingseveral construction projects: oncology department, bone marrowlaboratory, operating room, and day care unit. In order for scmci to continue providing the best tertiary pediatric care in the region, we must constantly update the medical equipment facilitating better testing and medical procedures.
