Causes: Administration of Justice, Crime & Law
Mission: The children's guardian fund, inc. Raises funds to ensure every abused, neglected and abandoned child in the 12th judicial circuit of florida has a court-appointed guardian ad litem and financial assistance is available for the child's health, educational and social needs.
Programs: Guardian ad litem (gal) is dedicated to speaking out for therights of abused, neglected and abandoned children who havebeen thrust into the court system. Guardian ad litem volunteers, along with professional staffmembers, work together to provide advocacy for children withthe goal of finding them a safe, permanent home. Galvolunteers, on average, work one or two cases at a time andcan focus primarily on their assigned children. The gal's only concern is what's best for the child. The galprogram has over 350 volunteers and paid staff whorepresented 900 children during the year. Unfortunately thenumber of children waiting for a gal far exceeds the numberof available volunteers. The program also provides recrutiing, education andrecognition for the guardian ad litem volunteers.
camp scholarships are issued to children on a needs basis which is determined by the gal office. The children's guardian fund "bridge to the future" advocates for youths in need of extra support as they age out of care and transition to self-sufficient, healthy and productive adults.
