Children's Burn Foundation

I attended the Children's Burn Foundation's Holiday Party last year when I knew very little about the organization. I was playing Santa Claus and sitting for photos with children and their families. I noticed a girl about 12 who walked into the Burbank Fire Department, where the event was being held. Honestly, I had never seen a child with that amount of scaring and facial disfigurement. It was a little shocking. Then I watched as that girl light up and smile from ear to ear as she saw some of her friends. She bounced across the fire station to embrace her friends. I watched her as she ran around all day laughing and enjoying herself. It was then when I realized what CBF does for these families and children. CBF creates community. They create a space where child burn survivors can just be kids. No one staring at them or making them feel out of place. CBF creates and nurtures a community of burn survivors and allows kids to simply be kids.

An absolutely incredible organization with a very important mission- helping child burn survivors worldwide throughout their healing process and road to recovery. Children's Burn Foundation (CBF) provides support and education through their Full Recovery, Family Emergency and Burn Prevention & Education programs. CBF takes on educating the community on preventative methods, as well as the need to heal the child burn survivor inside and out, nurturing the whole body. CBF's impact is truly remarkable!

Fantastic nonprofit with a heartfelt mission to assist children with burns and their families. Each child is treated as an individual with unique needs with comprehensive care including medical, psychological and social support.

A wonderful organization that helps child burn survivors and their families receive care they need to thrive from ages 0-18 years old. They have a one of a kind exhibit that teaches millions of children what to do when a fire occurs and how to be safety smart!

Children's Burn Foundation helps child burn survivors in navigating the difficult road to recovery. Their programs can uplift this journey by introducing families to a network of like minded survivors. Children's Burn Foundation not only gives support with surgeries, but also provides activities where survivors may connect with one another. With emotional support these survivors can reach their full potential. Camp Gung-Ho gives them a relief from the everyday stress of recovery.

Working in the hospital setting, I have witnessed the support and assistance families receive from the very start of the burn survivors recovery. Children's Burn Foundation collaborates with healthcare professionals to provide the best outcomes for the child by assisting with things such as food vouchers, emergency funding, and garments.

The support groups offered post hospitalization provide the burn survivor, their siblings, and parents the opportunity to connect with others that understand their experiences and the opportunity to heal emotionally.

Children's Burn Foundation has been a gift of resources to burn injured children and their families. They provide support and assistance when a family is in the deepest emotional and financial crisis of their life dealing with their burn injured child. From counseling to help with gas or food, or even medical equipment that insurances don't cover. They brighten the lives of burn injured children and their families.

I had a great experience as a volunteer with the Children’s Burn Foundation. I volunteered to help out at the foundations camp for the burned children. The staff was very helpful and always lended a hand to others in need. They were very professional and inspirational to all the children and their families. It was amazing to be around so many bright, strong, and enthusiastic children. I was honored to be apart of their lives and would recommend being apart of this fantastic foundation!

One of life's most exciting and terrifying experiences is bringing your new baby home. New parents experience various emotions, including joy, terror, and exhaustion. Since most children burns occur inside the household, most of these injuries could have been prevented by awareness and burn prevention.

Children's Burn Foundation has a fantastic, free-of-charge program, in both English and Spanish, for excepting and new parents called Safety Smart Babies. This program is to help educate and bring awareness of scald and contact burn dangers to help mothers and caregivers to keep infants safe. Most importantly, I find this program to be extremely valuable and an essential tool for parent and caregivers.

As a social worker intern at Childrens Burn Foundation I witnessed first hand what support groups do to the survivors and their families. The CBF support group has uplifted these families and especially the burn survivors. The facilitators are fantastic and have impacted their lives.

I have seen the work they do first hand and love everything about this organization. They even have a wonderful holiday party that gives families a special day filled with gifts and food as they undergo treatment. The work the staff does is life saving!!!!

I've been volunteering for years at Children's Burn Foundation. They provide fun and interactive camps for young burn survivors. I love to see the kids bonding and making friends with others who have similar journeys. Their holiday party is attended by hundreds from the burn community in Southern California. Photos with Santa is my favorite spot to volunteer.

An incredible organization with an important mission to help child burn survivors throughout their healing process who have suffered devastating burns. CBF provides burn prevention education to more than 134,000 children and adults annually in the Greater Los Angeles area, nationally and internationally. The organization has hundreds of committed board members and volunteers that make this organization one of the top non-profits. I am honored to be part of this community. The work we do affects children locally, nationally and globally.

Children's Burn Foundation is the only organization that heals child burn survivors and their families through comprehensive physical, financial and emotional care while educating communities in California and across the globe on how to prevent and treat burns. I have seen firsthand the incredible work they do to give children their childhood back. From covering the costs of life-saving medical treatments to organizing support groups and fun, bonding events for child burn survivors and their families, the organization is with the families they help every step of the way through their journey to recovery. Many program participants stay with the organization until they are 18 and even come back to volunteer or work at CBF later in life. It is a remarkable nonprofit that makes the world a better place for many.

We’ve had the opportunity to see some of the programs CBF administers for child burn survivors and the crucial support it has provided in its countless cases. CBF helps burn survivors transform injuries and experiences that might otherwise be devastating into bases for empowerment. Burn survivors with the support of CBF live inspiring stories of strength and perseverance. A great organization!

I had the pleasure of volunteering for this amazing group over the summer. What a fantastic organization that truly puts the needs of the children they serve at the top. The summer camps they provided helped the kids meet and create lasting friendships with other survivors. What a great organization! Glad I was able to volunteer and can't wait to do it again.

The Children's Burn Foundation provides critical support to children with burn injuries and their families...worldwide! As the parent, the CBF has provided support for our daughter and our family through events and camps that allow our daughter to be with other children with burn injuries and be part of a community of burn survivors. The Children's Burn Foundation is there for entire family, whether providing medical support or family assistance, they recognize that the entire family is affected by burns. Psycho social services are provided not only for the burn survivor child, but for their siblings and parents. The burn world is a unique world, one that is not known like the cancer world, yet it impacts all members of the family. Without the Children's Burn Foundation, many families would have no where else to go.

The Children's Burn Foundation does amazing work like no other organization in their field. They provide Full Recovery services to the child burn survivors, as well as, support financial and psychological support for their families. They are a small organization with an enormous impact!

My son was badly burned two years and eight months ago. My son was flown to USC to be treated. We were there for six weeks. A couple of days after sleeping in the waiting while my son was in ICU Carol from the Children's Burn Foundation called me and told me that they knew I financially needed help and that whatever my insurance wouldn't pay they would. I was shocked and relieved. Days later Tanya from the Children's Burn Foundation called me and said she was sending someone over to give me gift certificates for places to eat, seeing I was eating whatever was at the hospital which wasn't much. She also said they were going to pay my rent for several months so that I would have that burden taken off of me. When my son and I came home, the Children's Burn Foundation said they would pay for my sons therapy and surgeries. My son has had to have many procedures and surgeries and they were all paid for by the Children's Burn Foundation. My son has been so lucky to have the number one burn doctor in the world Dr. Peter Grossman do his surgeries and procedures. Because of the help and kindness of the Children's Burn Foundation and their staff my son is now back in school, playing football and living his life. I am so grateful for everything this foundation has done for us. My son also goes to the teen support group. A very safe and caring support group with great leaders. This group has help him bond with other burn survivors.

This organization gives hope and healing to the most downtrodden.... those with debilitating burns, with emotional scars, too.

I once volunteered at the summer camp program that the Children's Burn Foundation puts on every summer for the dozens of kids they help and their families that they support. Watching this pseudo family was a truly incredible and inspiring thing to see. One of the best moments of the entire weekend was when I was walking down a path to the children's kickball game, when I passed a young boy from a very small village in Africa (he had never heard of pizza or burgers before CBF brought him to LA for surgeries!) His burns are so severe that, at age 16, he only has one eye, no hair, and only one working arm, which also only has two fingers. He was walking away from the lake with a fishing pole held awkwardly leaning on his shoulder (the only way I think he's able to hold anything.) As I walked passed him, I asked if he was having a good day. In his broken English, thick accent, and high pitched voice, he responded with the biggest smile his face could muster, and said, "I'm so happy. This is the best day of my life."

I believe in the Children's Burn Foundation mission in helping young children severely burned without the financial means to receive the surgeries needed in order to live a productive life.
I have seen children with their mouths fused to their necks without the possibility of eating, speaking, children with limbs so tragically burned they cannot walk or eat, eye's and noses missing to mention just a few. I am horrified at the thought they can have lived this way for years.

My family and friends have been donating to CBF for over 10 years and will continue to contribute.

CBF goes beyond expectations in meeting the child's needs when it comes to burn treatment. From support groups to paying for medical procedures and adding their love and personal touch to each family, what they do for us (families with burned children) is priceless. God Bless them! When burned children have CBF on their side on their recovery journey they are thriving!

The generosity of our donors has enabled the Children's Burn Foundation (CBF) to care for severely burned children from across the world. CBF's structure and protocols allow for exceptionally fast response to requests to arrange treatment and provide funding for that treatment. This response time has contributed to our saving several lives. As an example ,we recently medevaced a severely burned young Ukrainian girl to the U.S. for lifesaving treatment unavailable to her in the Ukraine.

A burn injury is one of the most devastating injuries that a person can endure. Its impact does not spare any aspect of a person's health - physically, emotionally and psychologically. The scars, both internal and external are lifelong. As a survivor of a burn injury as a child, I have a unique perspective as a board member of this tremendous organization. Not only do children endure excruciatingly painful and prolonged medical treatment for burn injuries, they also endure lifelong emotional and psychological challenges as a result of their visible scarring. The Children's Burn Foundation not only provides necessary and lifesaving, first class medical care, they also provide support for the families of these children. The Children's Burn Foundation is proud of its commitment to "full recovery" of these children which includes ongoing medical care, psycho-social support and family assistance. The Children's Burn Foundation doesn't stop there, we are also committed to burn prevention and education in the hopes that we can prevent these devastating injuries from occurring in the first place. I am very proud to be a board member of the Council of the Children's Burn Foundation and volunteer my time to help with the important task of assisting child burn survivors. I joined the organization over 10 years ago, and I have made this cause the one I work hardest for. Children Burn Foundation is an icredible non profit organization that helps burned kids (and their families in need at a time of crisis) locally and internationally . The amazing role of the brilliant surgeons, the nurturing role of the nurses and staff; as well as, the active role af each and every single Board and Council members goes beyond ones expectation. Children all around the world receive treatments physically, psychologically, and emotionally. They are able to grow into an adult not as a burn victim but certainly as a survivor. I found the staff at the Children's Burn Foundation to be warm and inviting and dedicated to the people that they serve. Their attention for detail and caring is what makes Children's Burn Foundation great! I found the Children's Burn Foundation to focus on two major areas: Full Recovery and Prevention, both vitally important in our every day lives, as well as the outreach program K-3 in the LA Unified School District, serving over 65,000 children annually and helping to prevent burns and fires. The new Safety Smart Babies program is so important to help educate new and expecting parents on preventing accidental burns in the home.

only 75 members have raised millions to help children that have received burns, but more important through educational programs both for Doctors, caregivers, schools and parents they have saved children from these horrible burns.

I have been on the Board of this charity for approximately 16 years and continue to be amazed at the efforts of our Board and Council to achieve the best result for the many children we have helped through the years. Burns unlike many injuries often require many surgeries and special care for extended periods of time.

There services are incredible with not only their full recovery program but they also help to educate 53,000 children a year about burn prevention.

The Foundation has a small but, powerful staff willing to go beyond their jobs to do whatever it takes to help child burn survivors thrive after a devastating burn injury. Burn injuries are the most painful; physically and emotionally, injury anyone can have. The Foundation also provides Prevention and Education programs that lessen the number of children affected by these devastating burns to children. The Foundation has a very wide and long reach, not only in the United States but, many other countries around the world. What a great organization that can do so much with so little.

Money is one thing, but A SMILE is something else all together. That's what the Children's Burn Foundation is all about. Putting smiles on faces, and hopes in hearts. I have been involved as a board member and watched case after case over the years. Children with no hope of a normal life are given a second chance. There can be no price tag on that. Whatever it takes, whatever it costs -- that's the mission of the CBF. But, wait, there's more… Helping victims is only part of it. Prevention remains a key component of our mission. Educating and preventing, and reaching out into a diverse community to keep the burn from happening in the first place. Lives preserved. Lives saved. What a magnificent job our Executive Director and her staff do. They are tireless and devoted. Devoting our time and treasures to this organization is truly something we are all very proud of. I have been on the Board of the Children's Burn Foundation [CBF] for several years. I am burn survivor myself and was a patient of the late Richard Grossman, MD, the founder of CBF. I have volunteered my time with several organizations dedicated to assisting burn survivors and their families, however the work of CBF is unique and unparalleled. CBF is the only organization that actually provides medical treatment for children who suffer burn injuries. All of the programs and services provided by CBF are first rate and managed by an amazing staff, supported by an incredibly dedicated Board of Directors and made possible by the hard work and passion of an amazing group of women who make up the Council. CBF provides assistance to burn survivors and their families both nationally and internationally. As a burn survivor since childhood I know, firsthand, that the work of the Children's Burn Foundation is truly important, meaningful and life changing for the thousands of children and their family members who avail themselves of the programs and services offered by CBF.

I volunteer (and donate!) to this amazing organization. As a volunteer, I assisted with the camp for the burn survivors two days ago. When you know what these kids have gone through, it feels great to volunteer for an organization that has completely changed the lives of some of these burn survivors. Even those that have "minimal" burns are affected. And the camp gives these kids a chance to be themselves around other burn survivors.

unlike other wonderful organizations I can see the children's recovery both physical and mental when I go to the summer camps, holiday events and watch the online communication from the Foundation office. I know where my money is going and the overhead is low, the children are the ones that benefit not fancy headquarters and more staff than essential. I also like the work done to prevent burns from occurring in the first place and the continuing follow up as they become teens and young adults.

I have been in the not for profit world for many years. I am very committed to not replicating services for people in need, as there is so much need. The Children's Burn Foundation's programs are vital to the health and well being of child burn survivors. There is no other foundation that will pay for surgery, rehabilitation and the psychological " Full Recovery" of child burn survivors from the injury to 18 years old. In addition, the Foundation provides state of the art burn prevention programs for children most at risk for burn injuries. Partnering with excellent doctors, nurses and heath care professionals at burn centers locally, nationally and internationally, the Children's Burn Foundation is a superb organization.

I have been donating to the organization for over seven years and it is amazing how much the organization has grown over those years and the number of children they help. They have even expanded to helping children who are childhood burn survivors not only in the United States but now from other parts of the world. I volunteer and support several organizations across the country and have found the Children’s Burn Foundation so rewarding. It is incredible how they are able to change the lives of children who have been so severely burned. One boy had to crawl to get around and with their support he is running around kicking a soccer ball. Their educational programs are delivered in a fun manner easy for young children to understand fire prevention and what to do in case of a fire. I thank them for all their great work!

Volunteering with the organization ensures that you will (1) learn much more about burn treatment and prevention than you ever knew before, (2) have a chance to connect with and bring joy to burn survivors at the children's day camps or the annual children's holiday party, and (3) meet some other wonderful volunteers.

Personally, I wouldn't miss the children's holiday party. Many of the children and their families return to the party year after year. I have been attending for five years and so have had a chance to see first- hand how children have recovered, looked better and better, and grown stronger, taller and more confident over the years.

I am on 5 non profit boards and find the Children's Burn Foundation work to be the most difficult and the most rewarding. It is difficult because of the severity of the injuries of the children we work with. It is rewarding because the medical, financial and psychological support we provide helps them to once again live normal lives. To see children who can't walk because their legs have been burned so badly, doing pirouettes a few months after they are in our care is a nearly indescribable experience. To be part of the Children's Burn Foundation and to play even a small role in helping these kids is "as good as it gets."

As a volunteer we are able to see and hear fabulous stories from the children that we have helped to restore to a normal life. It is very hard for a child to be disfigured and when they look more normal they feel so much better about themselves and gain tremendous confidence. We offer the children and their families wonderful activities, camps, and holiday parties.

I have been in a sense with the children's burn foundation since i got burn at 7yrs old.my years as a camper at camp gung ho were great.it was something i'd always look forward to.at age 14 i was a pioneer with the young adult burn survivors and suppoerters group aka YABSS.in time i became the president of the group and served my term and am now a jounior counselor.
