Causes: Crime & Law, Sexual Abuse Prevention

Mission: Childhood Fractured is a non-profit humanities-based human rights initiative centered on preventing the sexual abuse and exploitation of children, through contemporary art. Our initiative operates on a multitude of levels. We are fostering civic engagement with regards to the individual and their level of awareness surrounding the international epidemic of child sexual abuse. We are challenging them to engage and challenge their communities to do the same. Decisive and swift action is necessary if we are to ensure the psychological, emotional, and physical safety of the children here today and the generations to come The foundation of this project is a series of 14 paintings each with a written narrative meant to explore the childhood sexual abuse of artist, Allen Vandever. This contemporary artwork functions as a creative interface for the public to be made aware of the realities of childhood sexual abuse told from the male perspective and to foster constructive, critical, and positive dialogues on this topic. The artwork and their respective narratives are currently being compiled into a book. This book will also feature expository writings on the topic of childhood sexual abuse, a working understanding of current medical research, and critical analysis of what we can do as a society in relation to childhood sexual abuse and exploitation.

This is a worthy non-profit.
It allows individuals and their families have a safe environment to discuss a difficult topic and heal from trauma.
Abuse can not be tolerated.
We all have to stand up and work together towards this goal.
I would like to thank DCFS, Attorney General, Police, Fire, Judges, Elected Officials, and community advocates for all their tireless and hard work on this subject.
This is a community organization for everyone.
This is a Local and Worldwide movement.
Thank you to all the organizers, donors, and volunteers.

I have volunteered and attended classes and events for the last year. I have found the expressions to be great help with my journey and recovery. I feel this place is the final steps of my recovery. I have grown so much because of Childhood Fractured please help Childhood Fractured continue and grow. Childhood Fractured has turned me into a warrior for children's rights. I have been in recovery for most of my life and this has been by far the best organization I have been involved in this has done more than all the years of therapy.

I have had the privilege of going to an event at the Childhood Fractured coffee shop and see what a difference this organization is doing. Whether engaging with the community or those in need of some help dealing with abuse, Childhood Fractured is creating a foundation of more awareness to end childhood sexual abuse.

As a psychotherapist and the founder of the Chicago Actors' Call to Action, I had the honor of holding an event last year that raised money and awareness for such a vital cause! My hope is that some day we could reach the place where organizations like Childhood Fractured are obsolete.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Allen and Derek speak at 2 events, and of speaking with both of them personally about the issue of child sexual abuse, and I can say that they are doing wonderful things to raise awareness of the issue. Keep up the GREAT work!
