Haiti Child Sponsorship (HCS) is a phenomenal organization that provides quality education, healthcare, and one meal a day to over 1,200 children in Haiti. This is done through The Good Shepherd School located in Pele, arguably the poorest area in the entire world. In the fall of 2010, following the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that literally decimated the country, my husband and I were honored and humbled to be a part of an HCS mission team who traveled to Pele to assist in any way we could. While shocked and saddened by the extreme poverty and deplorable living conditions that the Haitian people were enduring, we also saw hope and joy through the ministry of The Good Shepherd School. The school was continuing to provide the necessary resources and supplies that defined its mission. The groundbreaking for a new and expanded complex was also accomplished while we were there. This school is a true beacon of hope for the people of Pele.
I love Haiti Child Sponsorship and the work they do in Port-au-Prince! The school and community served benefits greatly from their investment -- from daily meals to clean water projects and rebuilding the school after the 2010 earthquake -- they have invested themselves into the local leadership for over 30 years! I have personally seen firsthand the work at the Good Shepherd School and Tent City school and am glad to support this life-changing work!
