Mission: ChildBuilders believes that every child deserves a mentally healthy life. We are committed to making a positive impact on children's mental health in our community. ChildBuilders provides prevention, early intervention, education and advocacy to assist children and families and to build awareness and support for meeting their mental health needs.
Programs: Parents under construction (puc) is a research-based, award-winning program that teaches children and adolescents the parenting skills they will need in the future. Trained facilitators use group discussion, role playing, interactive activities, and videos to teach students and their parents about healthy child development, effective communication skills, non-violent conflict resolution, and positive discipline techniques. 965 youth and students served, 78 individuals trained, 333 parents participated.
we help ourselves (who) is an anti-victimization program that teaches children and adolescents how to stay safe, how to handle threatening situations, and how to get help. Children gain decision-making and communication skills and see themselves as capable, worthy human beings who do not deserve victimization of any kind. Trained facilitators deliver engaging, age-appropriate presentations on child abuse, internet dangers, bullying, domestic violence, sexual and emotional abuse, kidnapping, and dating violence, and suicide. 56,820 youth and students served, 138 individuals trained, 92 parents participated.
love u2 is a program that teaches middle and high school students how to form emotionally healthy and sound dating relationships based on mutual respect, equality, kindness, and responsibility. Topics include attraction, infatuation, rejection, falling in love, emotions, dating, breaking up, and coping with a broken heart. The program teaches why a particular "sequence" of some of life's most important events, such as establishing a healthy union before having a baby, really matters. 22 youth and students served, 115 parents participated.
