Mission: Child & Family Service is Hawaii's leader in human services and advocacy for children and families in need. CFS is a private, non-sectarian and non-government organization that has served the people of Hawaii for 100 years. Child & Family Service offers services on Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Lanai, Molokai and the Big Island of Hawaii. The organization's primary purpose is strengthening families and helping them to raise healthy children. Each year, more than 40,000 people are assisted through a wide range of human service programs.
Programs: Caring for keiki programs provide services that include home visitation, support services and resource referral to families with children who are at-risk for child abuse and neglect. Another component of the service array includes a center based education program for children 3 to 5 years of age that also provides family support and health related services. Caring for keiki emphasizes a strength-based, family-centered approach to service that empowers families and promotes a partnership for the purpose of promoting family well being. There were 2,550 individuals served during the year.
healing from trauma programs provide safe, nurturing shelters to victims of domestic abuse so they can heal, receive counseling and referral services, make decisions, and plan for the future. Anger management classes for men and classes for women to break the cycle of domestic violence are also offered. Working with families involved in child welfare is also included in our healing from trauma continuum. These services provide strength-based, in-home counseling, outreach, parenting education, supervised visitation and support services to families with issues of child abuse and neglect. There were 7,274 individuals served during the year.
empowering youth programs provide support and counseling to youth who have severe emotional and behavioral problems. Residential services are provided through transitional family homes, respite homes, crisis homes and group homes. Activities include therapy, family counseling, medication management, and behavior management. Prevention programs include an independent living program and positive youth development programs. There were 878 individuals served during the year.
honoring kupuna programs promote maximum independence and functioning for kupuna on the island of oahu. Our goal is to help the elderly continue living in their own homes while thriving as they age. Case management services are provided along with various support services. There were 1,007 individuals served during the year.
