Mission: Founded in 1985, CAPA is the Arizona chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. Our 16 Regional Councils work in local communities to identify prevention strategies that make sense to that community. Our First Steps program meets with new mothers in Arizona hospitals to provide parenting education, refer to needed services, and assess potential risk of child abuse. We are also the state-level advocate for better systems to protect children. For example, the Prevent Child Abuse License Plate is a result of a CAPA-led lobbying effort.
