This nonprofit plays an active and significant role in the community to support bike advocacy, engagement, and education. I'm extremely honored to help support this nonprofit as both a community member and board member.
Chico Velo has consistently stood as a stalwart defender of cyclists, bike commuters, and a promoter of safer, more accessible bike infrastructure that supports non-motorized transportation and increases the safety of bike users city wide. Thank you Chico Velo!
Chico Velo is a fantastic nonprofit for the Chico. They always have a free bike valet at all Chico events and are always so friendly and knowledgeable. It really encourages me to ride my bike and participate more in the Chico community.
I serve on the board of Chico Velo because I am passionate about supporting cycling. But one of the more impactful moments with the organization came when my 5 year old son and I participated in an organized ride/event which brought families together to ride. The ride was the longest many of the children had ever done, and the looks of empowered joy on the kids faces was priceless!
Chico Velo is mainstay in the community that holds up the notion that Chico is a bike town. It's hard for me to think of any event in town bike related or not where they are not involved. Between large scale projects like the Colby Mountain trail project, maintenance of local trails in Bidwell Park, or the little things like providing a bike valet at the farmers market. This group is truly a collaborative effort for the community by the community.

Chico Velo has been an influential fixture in the community for 40 years- advocating for safe and accessible infrastructure for bicycles, hosting events that bring in people from all over to experience our region, providing stewardship programs and expanding access to trail recreation, and helping contribute to a more sustainable and thriving community. Chico is known for it's bicycling culture and Chico Velo lies at the heart of that effort.
