I adopted my puppy Petunia through CRA and the process was fast and friendly. Petunias vaccines were up to date and she was already spayed when i got her. She was also microchpped. The communication through the adoption process was professional and fast. I also found the adoption questions to be appropiate and responsible in part of the rescue. I was well informed of all the terms conditions of the adoption and the necessities of my new puppy and they even gave me a insurace option for her. Im so thankful to the Chicago Rescue Authority for the amazing that they do!
Chicago Rescue Authority is fantastic, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to adopt! We adopted our pup, Gizmo, after a short foster period. The women at CRA are extremely friendly, communicative, and knowledgeable and were able to answer any questions that we had during the foster period. He was up to date on all vaccines and surgeries at the time we got him, which made going to the vet for check ups and boosters very easy. The process of paperwork and record transfers was very prompt and professional. We’re very thankful for this great rescue and our great pup!
I had a fantastic adoption experience with Chicago Rescue Authority. The team was extremely kind and easy to coordinate with. Their love for the dogs in their care was evident as well as their dedication to placing their rescues in the best possible homes. They were patient with me during my meet and greet and let me take my time in making the (ultimately very easy!) decision to adopt my recent addition, Muffuletta. She's thriving in her new home, has come out of her shell and gained so much confidence since bringing her home in just the last several weeks. Would absolutely work with CRA in the future and would recommend their organization to anyone and everyone seeking to adopt a dog.
We adopted our dog, Eddie from CRA in the summer of 2024. It was an incredible experience from start to finish. The staff was so professional and responsive, and assisted us with the adoption process. We also felt that Eddie was so well cared for and healthy. Eddie had been pregnant when CRA took her in and they supported her through the remainder of her pregnancy, birth and raising the puppies until they could be adopted. Eddie is a happy and well adjusted member of our family of two parents, two kids and another, older rescue dog. We are very grateful to CRA for the love and caring of Eddie.
We adopted Blanca from the Friends’ litter through Chicago Rescue Authority. Blanca and her siblings came in underweight, but the care and attention they received from the team made all the difference. They made sure that all puppies were examined, nourished, and given the proper care before being placed in homes.
From the very beginning, the team was transparent and helpful. They answered every question we had, so did the foster family - this means they make sure foster families are taking great care of them before going into their homes.
Chicago Rescue Authority has even taken an extra step of building a community of “Alumni” adopters. A group where everyone who has adopted can share updates and milestones! They’re doing incredible, heartfelt work!
I had a family member pass away unexpectedly and I needed help rehoming his dog, Gracie. Chicago Rescue Authority stepped in to helped me find the perfect family for her. I am eternally grateful for their assistance during such a difficult time.
We adopted our dog, Bradley, through CRA, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. We first spotted him on CRA’s website and instantly felt a connection. When we found out they were hosting an event at a local brewery where Bradley would be, we knew we had to meet him in person. From the moment we did, it was clear he was meant to be part of our family. The adoption process was seamless, thanks to the helpful team at CRA, who walked us through every step during our introductory phone call. Just two weeks after meeting Bradley, we were bringing him home. We wholeheartedly recommend CRA— their dedication to rescuing animals is truly unmatched, and they made the entire experience a joy.
I have fostered with CRA many times. Every time I am met with encouragement and communication. The founders are incredibly flexible and understanding. They are wildly patient and truly have their entire hearts and lives invested in this organization. They genuinely care about the placement of these dogs and make sure due diligence is in place for all adopters. They are honest, fair and truly the most wonderful humans. I have nothing but positive thoughts with CRA, the humans and dogs alike
Adopted the best dog from them. Very great about explaining all information on my dog and he’s been so perfect!! Couldn’t recommend them enough!
My husband and I have known Megan for over 5 years and have adopted not one but TWO puppies from her foster litters - first in 2019 and again in 2022; alas, we are “double dippers”. Megan raised our pups with so much love, care, and attention including crate training and socialization, making the transition to our family such a smooth one. During these brief few years we’ve known her, we’ve seen Megan extend endless compassion and dedication to countless rescue animals and their furever humans. We are forever grateful to Megan for rescuing our babies and for continuing to educate the public on responsible pet adoption and ownership, as we learned so much from her when we adopted our first and continue to learn from her now. Thank you Megan and CRA for all you do. We can’t wait to see you thrive and continue to live out your mission!
Megan was my angel when I brought in a 6 month old cockerspaniel puppy that someone on Nextdoor app was trying to urgently rehome to the first taker. Since that is a dangerous way to rehome a puppy, I took the puppy to her and she was there, with literal open arms, no questions asked on New Years Eve. Took him into her own hoke to foster him right away. Was also great about sending me updates about his vax and neutering and notified me right away when he got adopted and sent pics of the very happy girl holding him. I have kept in contact with Megan since and she's even given me advice and mentored me on a few things when I took my own foster in. So grateful there are people like her out there for these dogs in need.
Megan and Serenity have worked with animals for extensive periods of time and are beyond kind to alllllll animals as well as humans. Megan has experience with dogs of all ages, complex medical needs and those in need of a little extra love. She has taught me how to care for puppies, seniors and how to help any dog come out of their shell. Megan is there for any question or concern and happy to hear any update!
Megan is an incredible asset to the rescue and veterinary community. Her passion for animal welfare is unmatched and she will always go above and beyond for an animal in need. I personally entrust her with our special needs rescue dog whenever we travel and there is such a great sense of comfort knowing he’s in the best care. I would highly recommend Megan and Chicago Rescue Authority to anyone looking to foster or adopt!
Megan is a gem — whip-smart, kind and 100% reliable. She helped take care of my beloved pup, Olive, a sassy senior pug-mix, for years, both as a vet tech and as a dog walker/ whisperer. As Olive got older, she had several health problems. Megan went above and beyond as her caretaker, giving Olive her meds and often assessing her health on the fly. She not only put my mind at ease, she became one of Olive’s absolute favorite people. Megan is a rock- solid person and a born advocate for animals.
Chicago Rescue Authority is made up by a really great group of dog-loving folks who have previously helped me with my own two Chicago rescue dogs whenever I needed it. I volunteered with Megan (one of the leaders of CRA) at a different animal rescue in the area before she started this organization, and I'm so glad she has created yet another much-needed nonprofit focusing on animal welfare in our city where so many pups need help. CRA does a particularly good job of taking in puppies who have been discarded by breeders - anyone who has ever had a puppy knows how much work it is to take in a whole litter! Chicago is lucky to have Chicago Rescue Authority.
We found Megan and CRA through West Fest. We saw her with a litter of hound puppies and instantly fell in love with our Pepper. Megan answered all of our questions and made the adoption process so easy. We’ve had Pepper for over a year now, and she is truly our soul dog! We’ve stayed in touch with Megan as she’s been there for any questions or concerns we have about either of our pups! Our next dog will absolutely be from CRA, and we love supporting them at all of their events and meeting all of the sweet pups they take care of. They truly care for their dogs and it very much shows! We love CRA!
I am so happy I met this rescue team! They have gone over and above to give service and support to help animals and the humans who work with them. If I am concerned about a dog, they do everything they can to help. Sometimes that means advice, sometimes a trip to the vet for an animal. They are proactive and try to help problem solve to make a rescue situation a positive experience for humans and animals. They remember every single animal. I am confident when they match a dog to an owner that the animal will have a loving home. Thank you, both from myself and on behalf of the animals you rescue!
I am a volunteer that helps foster animals that come into CRA’s hands. I’ve worked closely with the co-founders - Jamie, Serenity and Megan for over a year now. They have passion, education, commitment and trust to ensuring animals are loved and cared for. The dedication, trust, communication and honesty they have with the volunteers is my personal favorite. I love knowing this is a team effort between founders and volunteers. I know if I bring concerns or questions to them regarding a foster animal in my care, I will be heard and a resolution will come from it. I trust this rescue and its founders 100%
I have worked extensively with Megan and Serenity, two of the cofounders of CRA, and I hope to continue to work with them for a long time. They do everything the right way, putting the animal’s needs first. It is obvious in the way they conduct their organization that they truly love and care about the animals so much and will do whatever it takes to give them the best lives. As a foster, I often had questions as new situations arose, and they were always quick to provide knowledgeable answers.
Serenity matched us with our baby last August. The journey and connection didn’t stop there with her, though. We have stayed in touch on a regular basis and I am so amazed at how much love she puts into every animal she comes into contact with. It truly takes a special someone to have such an open heart and I will forever be grateful for her.
Megan is the epitome of dog rescue. With
years of experience volunteering, as a vet tech, and in rescue, she has seen it all and doesn’t shy away from the underdogs - whether it be the pregnant mamas, the seniors, or the medically complex. She is the only one I trust to watch my own dogs because I know if anything goes wrong, she will know exactly what to do. The care and empathy she shows towards my dogs extends to every single dog that walks through her door, whether it’s one of her own or a newbie to the rescue. Her heart is matched by her motivation to truly make a difference in the overpopulation of dogs in Chicago shelters.
Megan fostered our dog June from birth until we adopted her at 10 weeks, and there is truly not a more loving and knowledgeable foster out there. She was so helpful with preparing us to adopt — answered all the many questions we had and sent June home with food, toys, pee pads, and anything else she would need to get settled. She continues to help us out by watching June when we’re out of town, which gives us peace of mind since she’s an anxious and reactive dog. Megan’s love for animals is boundless and unconditional, and I know any animal under her care is in great hands. She’s already doing such great things with this rescue, and I’m so excited for all the animals whose lives she will touch in the future.
I cannot say enough great things about Megan and Serenity. They provided me with the love from a dog that I never knew my life was missing. I met Megan at an event in Chicago, where I fell in love with my puppy that I wasn’t even looking for. Megan and I talked extensively about my lifestyle, my upcoming travels, and which dog was best suited for me. A very long story short, I was met with a “No we’re not getting a puppy” when I got home. But the world had something more in store for this puppy and I. With the help of Megan and Serenity, my boyfriend was able to pull off the greatest surprise, the puppy that I met at the event. After the ugliest cry of my life, and many months later, Scout is living his best life and definitely the most spoiled pup I know. Almost a full year later, Megan still watches Scout for me when I travel. I’m sure there are lots of options for pet sitters where I live, but I drive over an hour to bring him to her. It gives me such joy to know that even a year later, Megan still cares so much about a dog that she helped give the best life to. I cannot wait to watch what fabulous things that Megan and serenity do with CRA (also how adorable is the name!?).
Working with Megan has been a career highlight for me. I’ve never met anyone so passionate about helping dogs, truly. She goes above and beyond in her passion to save dogs that need help, take care of their medical bills and find them loving homes. I would only feel comfortable adopting through CRA. Serenity and Lex are also incredible and their love for animals is truly why they all do what they do. I am so grateful for Megan starting this rescue for the right reasons and look forward to any opportunity to collaborate with CRA. They are the best!
I've worked in animal care for over a dozen years, and Megan is by far the best person to handle fosters and rescues I've ever met. She's incredibly generous with both her time and her knowledge, and I wish I had half of her patience. Her dedication to every single pet that crosses her path is truly astounding. We wouldn't have our rescue dog Teddy if it wasn't for her, and I can't count how many other people can say the same thing about their pets.
I cannot say enough good things about the humans that run CRA. They truly care about every single animal that crosses their path. They never shy away from doing the right thing, even if it’s hard or time consuming. I’ve been lucky enough to foster many dogs and CRA is truly a special organization.
Working with Megan, or should I say- MVP, has been fantastic!! Thanks to Megan I now feel confident in educating people about puppy mills, spaying and neutering, and overall I’m confident to recommend Megan if anyone ever needs help with their pet. Megan may not have all the answers BUT she will work hard to help the pet parent find a resolution that benefits the pet. I’ve seen MVP foster a few puppy litters & let me just say WOW! That’s hard work!!! It’s not just the cute little toe beans and puppy cuddles… it’s coming back from work to find the puppies covered in poop, ripped pee pads, and their little wagging tails. Megan makes it look so easy and SHE RAISES THE BEST PUPPIES! Honestly, I can go on and on, but if you get to work with MVP… consider yourself lucky. MVP truly cares, respects, and values animals & it’s a beautiful thing to witness! Meeting all the dogs MVP has rescued so far in 2022-PRESENT has been a huge honor & I can’t wait to see what MVP and her rescue team do in the following years rescuing animals and educating humans. :)
We have known Megan for 5+ years and in that time have seen her foster countless, countless animals with endless dedication, patience and love. She fostered our first dog and did a phenomenal job potty training, crate training and socializing her before we adopted her. Her compassion for animals knows no bounds and it is clear her life mission is supporting animals. She will go to great lengths to ensure the welfare of all animals with lots of love, attention, training, and a safe environment. Can’t recommend Megan and CRA enough!
