I love listening to KCME in Summit County because of the quality and variety of the classical music, and no commercials! KCME comes to Summit County at 89.3 FM courtesy of the translators of Summit Public Radio & TV.
I have been listening to and supporting KCME since moving to the Springs in 1985. At that time, if was off-air from midnight to 6 A.M. It was always a unique gem, especially when headquartered in Manitou Springs where the building straddled the "Bubbling Brook." Shelves were lined with reel to reel tapes and LP records.. But it has steadily grown in technical broadcast quality and programming over the years. The quality of the announcing staff is amazing, most producing one or two weekly programs of their own. I recently had to move from the Springs after 37 years, but have left my sustaining membership in place. Because I will be streaming my favorite announcers and programming from afar! It is a piece of home I cannot leave behind. Thanks to everyone at KCME for your dedication!
As a musician I find it essential to have top notch jazz and classical stations in the area. Jazz 93.5 and KCME fulfill that need. Further, both stations are supportive of music, arts, dance, theatre and culture in the community. These stations are collectively a true community gem.
I’ve listened to and supported the Cheyenne Mountain Broadcast House since 1998. The programming is excellent and their stewardship of the money donated by listeners is fiscally outstanding. I currently live in Texas and continue to listen through their online streaming service and am proud to be one of KCME’s Sustaining Member Listeners. KCME supports all the cultural arts in the Colorado Springs listening area and their on-air promotion partnership is invaluable to so many organizations.
My favorite form of performing arts, jazz, is celebrated by my favorite station, Jazz 93.5. Their enthusiastic DJ's play wonderful music and spread enlightening information about all things jazz, such as bios, history, liner notes, new releases, etc. Most of them are musicians and it's fun to see them performing around town or in the audience. Speaking of local performances, Jazz 93.5 also sponsors live jazz shows and announces when local jazz shows are happening, invaluable!
KCME offers a special peace and serenity mixed with exciting and rigorous musical works. Sister station Jazz 93.5 fills a place in my soul that is empty without jazz. These are my go-to stations. Messaging is unobtrusive, yet very informative. I'm greatful for the event information provided. The support KCME provides to the music, art, cultural and other non-profits organizations in the Pikes Peak region is a true gem in Southern Colorado.
Jazz 93.5 brings a level of culture and history to Colorado Springs that did not exist previously. The station excels in providing an educational and cultural avenue for music students and music lovers if all ages. Jazz 93.5 is my number one nonprofit that I choose to support.
Jazz 93.5 , jazz radio station here in Colorado Springs, has brought so much culture and opportunity to the Pikes Peak region. As a local jazz musician not only have I had the privilege of working side-by-side with many of the incredible people who work at Jazz 93.5, performing for various events they have hosted over the past few years, but my life, as well as the lives of others, has been immeasurably enriched by their programming, not to mention the many local programs and events they help to sponsor. As an educator I am grateful for their support of local music education, especially their support for the Colorado Springs Conservatory. Colorado Springs is truly a brighter place thanks to Jazz 93.5.
