Chester County Food Bank, the Veggie Truck, sells local produce at prices higher or inline with standard prices, which are currently out of reach for most people and totally out of reach for those in need.
They offer food vouchers "veggie buck", but still the amount of food one receives does not leave much to feed a family for an appreciable amount of time. Those in need must to go to such institutions as the Phoenixville Clinic and complete a 'prescription' to qualify for their veggie bucks.
There are other medical clinics in Chester County much finer, such as CVIM, but The Chester County Food Bank refuses to align with this group. And how many more groups do they refuse? Those in need being served by CVIM are excluded from services offered by The Chester County Food Bank.
If food prices everywhere were affordable, there would be no hunger in the country. There would be no need for such "charities". And it is this very type of charity that maintains the very need for charities.
