This is an Organized and Incorporated Tribal Community with an emphasis on tribal socio-economic development. It has a small land base that is sufficient for limited services, focusing on Health Care and Cultural Specific Education (Iroquoian). It is in the process of developing an On-Line School & College with a degree specific to Human Services and primary focus on Tribal Specific Knowledge in an effort to stem the tide of cultural genocide. The CIRC membership/citizenship is governed under 71A-1 of NC Statutes, that being any descendant is accorded membership/citizenship according to NC Law. The CIRC is also a member of the Tuscarora-Nottoway Confederation of which members/citizens are eligible for inter-tribal services and or benefits of other member tribes of the Confederation. These activities are provided for the most part by Volunteers who believe that it is one thing to be called a community, and another to BE a community.

This is a native American tribe / tribal community organization that actually helps people of all races creeds and color. Their focus is native peoples of NC; yet I have seen them help in any way they could all races and colors of people in need of a hand up.The Native culture comes from the related tribal nations of Nottoway, Meherrin, and Tuscarora. CIRC will give tech help on educational loans, government affairs and community services education. The name of Cherokee actually came from the State of NC renaming the tribe incorrectly in a state statute. Although Cherokee people are Iroquois just as the other named tribes. These tribes are all related even if by distance blood. CIRC have limited resources yet they do what they can when they can and sometimes they dig into their own council members pockets to help those in need.
