If it weren't for Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary, I wouldn't have my Bess. She is thriving at home and we love her so much.
In February of 2021 I lost my beautiful rescue Cocker Spaniel, Ali. Within days I was looking for another Cocker to rescue and came across Bess's picture online. I learned Bess was up for adoption and that she had been brought to a rescue in Mexico supposedly due to severe allergies at the age of 10 yrs old. Oh my gosh, she looked so pitiful...like she needed a bath and a groom so badly. Her eyes are black as coal and were so sad looking. I immediately filled out the application and was contacted right away by her foster, Shelly. We set up a place and time for my husband and I to meet her fosters and Bess and I took one look and scooped her up in my arms and home we went.
Some of Bessie's personality:
She has the weirdest bark/howl...not a ruff ruff more like a woooooo wooooo
Loves her walks, ear scrunches and treats
Loves going to PetSmart and Starbucks for her pup cup
Most of all she loves going for rides.
We call her Bessie Boo
And the one naughty thing she does is digs up her mom's flowers so she can lie in the nice cool watered dirt and then track it in all over the house. Little stinker
Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary is such a positive organization in our dog rescue community and that is the reason why I began fostering with them this summer. Pauline makes the fostering process so seamless and user friendly, especially for those of us who have our own dogs and family. She is always on top of the medical care and I appreciate the fact that she quickly gets our appointments scheduled as soon as possible. In my heart I know that this rescue makes the world a better place.
I started fostering with Cherished Tails earlier this year '24. Talk about a rescue organization who has it's act together! All while going above and beyond helping rescue and save little furry love's lives. You CAN foster (maybe keep 1-2 along the way). Knowing you've helped out a helpless furry love is a wonderful feeling. The families who adopt these loves get a dog that's become much healthier, knowing what love/care is. An amazing group of wonderful people, volunteering and coming together to save little dogs from even California despite being Tucson based.
We got our dog Sandy from Cherished Tails in 2022 and the whole experience was fantastic. I had applied for another dog who was quickly adopted by someone who applied first, but one of the volunteers reached out a few days later with a lead on a dog they thought might work for our family. We were very interested, but I had travel plans and couldn't take him for another week. Cherished Tails went above and beyond, and then volunteer fostered Sandy in her own home until I was able to pick him up. He was a perfect match and we will look to Cherished Tails first the next time we're ready to adopt another pup.
We have adopted two senior dogs from this rescue over the past few years. They are both great little dogs and we had a good experience with this rescue. I recommend the rescue to other people all the time. They mainly find homes for senior dogs who are often overlooked in shelters.
It is all about the dogs. Not only do the dogs get the medical care they need, the rescue makes sure the adopter's home is acceptable for each dog. The goal is to find a FOREVER home so they do everything possible to make sure the dog and adopter suit each other and that it will be forever.
Nano came to us as a sweet foster who we immediately fell in love with and had to adopt. Nano had extensive medical issues that which made even eating a challenge for him. Pauline and Cherished Tails through great expense taken care of by them was able to achieve a happy life. Thank you for all you do and the countless lives you have saved.
So much respect for this amazing rescue. They step up to save seniors and dogs in need of medical care that would otherwise be killed. The director works tirelessly to have every dog medically vetted and placed, and she has found the best resources to help stretch the value of every dollar donated. The fosters lovingly care for these precious pups as they recover and until they find their forever homes. Cherished Tails rescues dogs from a number of shelters, and have a number of volunteers who transport these dogs to their fosters, as well as medical appointments. They host weekly adoption events, and potential adopters can be assured that their rescue's medical needs have been met before being deemed adoptable; any long-term medical issues are fully disclosed.
As a farm animal sanctuary in the area, we have been blessed to know and work with Pauline and her wonderful dedicated team for several years. They see value where so many turn a blind eye or just give up. These precious souls get outstanding medical care, love and the safety of a home, from foster to forever, they work together for each animal and ensure they get absolutely everything and anything they could need from their first day to their last and for many it’s the first time they have felt loved and safe. Many arrive in pain with medical needs that have been long neglected. Others are terrified of humans who have failed them. Pauline and crew help to heal their bodies and their spirits whether in their care for years or just days. Each one has value. Truly an outstanding organization!
My little senior girl Alice came from Cherished Tails. It is a wonderful group that is extremely well run, focused on their mission, and deeply committed to saving these lives. They are the real deal. I have worked in rescue for many years and CTSS has impressed me beyond words.
My last two rescues have come from cherished trails senior sanctuary. They work tirelessly to save dogs that likely wouldn’t have a chance without them. They have always been quick to respond with any questions I’ve had. They truly celebrate every adoption. They love to share good news. Lastly, they never give up on their rescues. If they find out one has been surrendered after many years they take them back and love them until they’re certain they can find a new home. I love this group so much! It takes a village and they’ve built one.
One of the very best! I am proud to support this organization through training and boarding services, as the need arises. Cherished Tails really invests in their pups, and is one of the most reputable rescues I've worked with.
Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary has turned me into a Chihuahua lover! After my Pugs passed, I sort of stumbled onto Cherished Tails and into the clutches of two very fine little attention-seeking missiles. After the Chihuahuas rescued me, I started doing virtual home visits for CT with potential adopters and have been constantly in awe of how well the organization is run. People often comment on how responsive our organization is, and how much they appreciate it. Cherished Tails works nonstop to find homes for dogs rescued at the last minute from kill shelters. It is an honor to be part of this group.
I have known this rescue since it first started. They are highly ethical and genuinely do everything possible both medically and temperament wise for the dogs who are in their care. They focus predominantly on senior dogs, a group long overlooked in the rescue world. Our community is lucky to have them!!
My mother who was battling cancer, lost her dog of 15 years and was devastated. Cherish tails had taken this sweet little terrier in and he stole my mother’s heart. I was so grateful to have found him and she loved him to the end. He is my living reminder of my lovely mum❤️
I adopted both of my girls from Cherished Tails. I was able to get helpful information from the fosters so I had an idea what to expect. Now, we are a very happy family!
I am a foster and volunteer with Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary. This is the most amazing rescue and so compassionate towards the animals and the volunteers and fosters. The go above and beyond to rescue. Here are a few of my past fosters Wiggles,Gemma,Carter,Sunny. All adopted.
A responsible rescue. Keeps supporters updated with monthly newsletters. Adoptable dogs attend public adoption events. Good social media marketing. Adoption stories add to their transparency. Kudos all around.

I Adopted Theodore he is a terrier and the love of my life Pauline was the most compassionate and helpful person I have met she found the perfect match for me
We adopted our first dog from Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary in 2018, a 13 year old female mixed breed. We began a line of communication with the organization director and other volunteers shortly after we first adopted and have supported as many other dogs in need as we can. When our first girl passed we waited a short time and then found another CTSS senior girl to love and give a good home to. Pauline, the CTSS director, immediately put us in touch with her foster mom (that is how caring and supporting the organization is) and we were able to meet her and bring her home in just a few days. We are always amazed at the tireless work and dedication of this wonderful group of volunteers that is Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary. The picture is our little tripaw and her dad adopted 6/25/23.
Adopted my first dog from Cherished Tales a couple years ago and ever since, my respect and admiration for this organization keeps growing. Their network of volunteers is truly remarkable and the love and care they provide for these pets is inspiring to see, especially for the many forgotten seniors and needy ones that they help. They’ve given so many a new start and hopefully will continue to do so for a long time.
I have been truly impressed with Cherished Tails. Their level of dedication to rescuing senior dogs is close to my heart. I love reading about their rescues and finding forever homes daily, it warms my heart. I am happy to donate to them. I have two senior rescues myself and I understand how costly it can be to provide care to these pups.
Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary is a wonderful dog rescue. They get dogs from many shelters with medical issues, minor and major, get them healthy, and find permanent homes for them. They also have fospice for dogs that need a soft landing at end of life. Over 90% of funds go to medical care, and it is completely volunteer run and staffed.
