Stellar animal shelter - proud to say this organization is part of my community. I have adopted two wonderful kitties from CHA and they have shown once an animal walks through their doors, it will forever be a part of the CHA family. When Atticus ended up escaping, they offered so many helping hands to get him back into my home. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

The Chequamegon Humane Association has provided the highest care for adoptable animals - and prospective human adopters -for many many years. In the last 3 years, despite all the challenges, the exhaustion, the rapidly pivoting circumstance, they have kept it going. It’s a bit more difficult now, with the challenges of the “return to normal” but their commitment, resolve, resilience are going strong. They continue to provided high-quality service to rescued animals and to the community, to stay in the public eye, to keep themselves and the animals safe. Thank you for the opportunity to shout-out for them to continue on for many more years.

This animal shelter touches like lives of around 1000 animal yearly in the Chequamegon Bay Area and beyond. They are a no kill shelter and truly care about the health and wellness of animals in need. They have a low cost spay neuter , outreach, volunteer and community service program. As well as offer animal assisted therapy to assisted living facilities. They not only help animals, but the community that loves them so dearly. They also assist other shelters who are faced with the possibility of euthanizing animals due to space. They are the best non profit in the area in my opinion.

We have adopted 2 puppies and 1 dog from CHA and we have loved each of our experiences! CHA truly cares about the animal's wellbeing and goes out of their way to make sure the dog or cat is perfectly matched with their adopter. The staff is friendly and very helpful and animals are well taken care of and housed. We love CHA and will adopt from them again in the future. :)

We are in the process of adopting two of their precious puppies! Though we are unable to take them home until the 21st, the shelter was kind enough to let us come by a couple of days ago to let the pups interact with us and get to know us. The staff was very friendly and we had a great time with the puppies. We look forward to coming back soon to bring them home! Overall, this is an amazing shelter! I strongly suggest searching for your next fur-baby here! I had so many good things to say about this shelter after seeing it this past weekend that my parents are not placing an application for one of my pup's sister!

I was lucky enough to find my best friend at CHA last year, I knew from the minute I met her she was to be mine. CHA found out she was heartworm positive and they paid for treatment instead of euthanizing like some shelters do. I love my sweet girl so much, thank you CHA for finding this girl for me and my family!

Since my sixteen year-old cat passed away last year, I've wound up adopting three cats from the CHA. I've been very impressed with their professionalism, their responsiveness, and above all, their obvious care & compassion for the animals. As I went through the adoption processes, they listened to my needs & questions and gave good, straightforward advice, and were genuinely committed to making sure they were making good matches. Thanks for helping me find Sandwich, Tuna & Mahi!

I have three loving pets that I adopted from CHA. I spend a large amount of my time there and the work that they do is outstanding. The current facility is falling apart bit by bit everyday. They are in a mad dash to complete their new facility. However, with the building falling down around them, they are still able to save lives and match up animals with forever homes. Here is a rare picture of all three of them in one place at one time.

Have been to CHA since I was little, and just visited last weekend to donate some dog beds and blankets. They had a total of 19 puppies and quite a few dogs, along with a full house of cats too! What would these poor animals do without CHA? We are so so lucky to have This resource in our area. The people operating and volunteering are very special people. We will always adopt, our current pup Baby Girl didn't come from CHA but she loves what they do.

I adopted my cat, Makwa, in August 2015. The staff was super helpful and polite and kind in helping me to adopt Makwa. And I have never regretted it- he is the sweetest cat! Just a couple days ago, I went to see a dog they have, and again, even though they were busy, they were nice enough to tell me her history and what her needs are. I was able to spend some time with her, and ended up filling out an application to adopt her as well. All in all, Chequamegon Humane Association is such a huge blessing to this area .

I was fortunate to adopt my Millie, from CHA, quite a few years ago. She was an older stray that was well loved and cared for by her CHA foster mother. We only had a year together, but, I'm so glad that she had a wonderful group care enough to put their efforts into this service.

When I first met CHA's director, I was looking for a friend for my dog. I thought I would pick out a dog and move on. I was so surprised by the time and effort Kari put into helping me find a dog that not only needed a home, but was the right fit for our family. Even more surprising was how very dear this shelter would become to me. It's a very special place where animals are not just housed, they're loved. The people at CHA truly love the animals they care for and make every effort to find them their fur-ever homes. Ashland County is blessed to have this amazing group of people looking out for our four legged friends.

The CHA has come a long way from its humble beginnings. They're in the process of building a new, much needed building which will allow them to reach out even more to the community. They do so much with so little. They truly are animal champions and we're lucky to have them in our community.
