Mission: To provide recreational facilities to employees and retirees of celanese and the related on-site businesses. A golf course with meeting halls and other similar type facilities are available for usage in exchange for annual membership dues.
Programs: The chemcel club currently serves approximately 250 active members comprised of celanese employees, celanese retirees, bishop plant facility contract employees, and employees of the chemcel credit union. Members can gain access to park facilities including day camping with picnic tables, barbeque pits, restrooms, playground equipment, and a pond for fishing as well as access to the rifle range with various distance targets and skeet/trap shooting equipment. The park has a 9 hole golf course for club members and a large clubhouse with a stage, kitchen and serving counter that can accommodate parties of 500 plus people. Club members get a significant discount for clubhouse rentals. The club also facilitates fellowship parties several times each year for club members and their families. The chemcel club currently employs three positions: a club business facilitator, a park maintenance man/greens keeper, and an assistant maintenance worker. These positions are fulfilled by multiple individuals throughout the year. All other duties are handled by club directors and members on a volunteer basis. The chemcel club has proudly served the bishop industrial facility community for over 50 years.
