This was my first time (April 2022) volunteering at Paws in the Park. It was a busy, fun day with lots of people, dogs, vendors and entertainment. I was expecially impressed with the number of folks and their dogs who came by the Charlotte Black Dog booth to express their appreciation for its mission. For me the day was an education not only about Black Dog Syndrome but also about the dog rescue world. I appreciate the opportunity to volunteer (Donna's a great leader) and I have been proudly wearing my Charlotte Black Dog t-shirt.
Seeing behind-the-scenes of the work Donna Peters and Charlotte Black Dogs put into their events, you can easily see the passion, love, and devotion that is put to spreading awareness of Black Dog Syndrome that affects black dogs all over the world. Charlotte Black Dogs does a great job educating local communities on the hardships that black dogs face when placed in shelter and rescue situations. By the end of their events, many dogs are left happily waiting to move to their new forever homes. With the support of others, Charlotte Black Dogs can grow to spread their message further.
I had the best time and experience volunteering with Donna and everyone.
You can see their heart, soul and passion put into doing something amazing for the community and our loved 4 legged friends~
The turn out was beyond expectations and I look forward to being a part of the next event!

Vote Charlotte Black Dog is #1 in our book, they are family
Charlotte Black Dogs not only saves the lives of many pets they work with our community to educate and assist when necessary. They cannot do this without our support… they rely on volunteers and donations…. It takes a village.
This organization does so much for our community in helping deserving dogs find the homes they deserve. They do so much to help other rescue groups within our community as well. They give of their time, energy and money...all on a volunteer basis. We are greatful for all they do.

Charlotte Black Dogs is such a positive and well-run organization. They help encourage adoption of black dogs, who are sometimes not chosen but are just as wonderful pets as any other color. I now have a black dog and it’s great being part of this community!
We love that they support the underdog! More awareness for these doggies is what they need! They do great work with the community.
I am working with Charlotte Black Dogs for a senior capstone project and they are fantastic! Donna, the executive director, is so kind, easy to communicate with, and has a passion for everything she does for this organization. Donna's dedication to helping dogs in need is so admirable!! Her efforts to find homes, donations of food, dog beds, collars & leashes, etc. is a non-stop mission that she is on, and is truly a gift to the dogs in need that she helps! She also helps no-kill shelters that have no funds to secure food and provide needed items to them. The animal world is so lucky to have Donna on their side!!
Charlotte Black Dogs is a wonderful nonprofit. Not only are they comprised of compassionate and caring individuals, but they really help to bring awareness to the Big Black Dog syndrome that plagues so many shelters and rescues and that not many people are even aware of. I hope this nonprofit continues their mission for years to come!

Visited Animal Control in Charlotte NC. Everyone seemed to just glide by the cages with an all black dog or puppy. Please come to Charlotte NC. It would be a life changer Pit bulls and black dogs were the first to be euthanized and that's such a sad reality. Be a hero, adopt a black dog! For me, black dogs are literally superior and that's on period.
Kudos to a wonderful non-profit and one of the very few or the only non-profit focusing on black dog syndrome. Any organization that saves and rescues dogs should be commended for their efforts and Charlotte Black Dogs is one them. An outstanding cast of volunteers making a difference not only in their community but also for the hundreds of black dogs that are saved every year because of the leadership of this compassionate non-profit. Well done!
We have had the honor of working with this great organization for several years now. They step up and do a lot for our community as well as work hand in hand with many of the rescue groups in our area. If you have the opportunity to go to one of their events please do. You'll have a lot of fun and learn a lot in the process.
Great 501c3 to work with. Not only do they bring awareness to Black Dog Syndrome, they put on a faboulous event, Paws in the Park helping lots of dogs find homes.
Charlotte Black Dogs is a great organization that brings focus to something I never thought about. I've had a black dog before and loved him immensely. It surprised me that others do not like to adopt black dogs for various reasons. I do not understand this, but really appreciate an organization that helps to educate everyone that all dogs are created equal and should be loved the same!
I was so happy to learn about this organization and the great work they do bringing awareness to the too often overlooked - but amazing! - black dogs in rescue through education and community events. They do a wonderful job of bringing together people, rescues and other organizations for the greater good and I look forward to attending many future events!
I’ve worked with many non profit organizations, but this one is passionate and personable. Talking to Donna you could tell she loves all pets! They get so involved with the community to spread their knowledge! I’m excited for their next event.
Donna and Dave do amazing things in Charlotte community by spreading awareness about the misconceptions surrounding adopting black dogs. They work tirelessly by educating the public and are always the first to help our business, Pet in the City when we host events. Wonderful organization ♥️
I've worked with this non profit since their very 1st event and will continue to support them in anyway possible. Donna and her husband have worked extremely hard in the community to educate others about the importance of spaying and neutering and also BDS which is very dear to my heart. Nothing but love for the dear rescuer's!

I’m extremely proud to be associated with Charlotte Black Dogs in a volunteer capacity. Since my first event with them about four years ago, I’ve seen them grow by leaps and bounds each and every year. It just gets BIGGER and BETTER every year! This is one of the, if not THE, most organized events you would ever want to participate in or attend. They are passionate, dedicated, and practice what they preach by having adopted numerous homeless dogs over the years. I hope to see YOU at the next event!
As an owner of a small rescue Charlotte Black Dogs has been instrumental in bringing the rescue community together as one voice to assist and support awareness, education and finding furever families for dogs who have been saved from kill shelters, abandonment and abuse.
Donna and her organization have become partners and friend and could not speak more highly of her group. Love them!
Charlotte Black Dogs is a wonderful organization that does a great job of bringing awareness to the challenges black dogs face getting adopted. Their Paws in the Park event every Spring is a fun filled family event that enables rescue groups from across the area to bring their black dogs to meet prospective adopters. This is the only event in the area that brings awareness to black dog syndrome.
A wonderful organization bringing awareness to black dog syndrome. They put on a great event each year called Paws in the Park. We love it!
Charlotte Black Dogs does a great job of bringing awareness to the circumstances surrounding the rescue and adoption of black dogs. Their events are professionally organized and managed. They are a team player when it comes to working with other charities, rescues, and vendors. I always look forward to working with them as a volunteer for another rescue group.
I have been a vendor at Paws in the Park for the last four years.
The event is very well organized and a lot of fun to attend.
I am looking forward to participating again next year.
I learned about this group this past spring and decided to become a vendor and help support their wonderful work that they do for our fur babies. They place a lot of time and effort into ensuring the animals are taken care of as well as help others find the perfect fur baby for their home.
There are very few groups that I've met that are as dedicated to the life and well being of abandoned dogs as Charlotte Black Dogs. They work hard every day to care for and home dogs most likely to be overlooked. I was involved with their dog event a few years back and it was great to see such support and dedication as this group. If you could spend 5 minutes looking into them, I think you'll agree. Please give a few minutes to support them. I was honored to be involved.
Charlotte Black Dogs is the best. This organization has brought so much awareness to black dogs and what great pets they are. Black dogs often are overlooked in the adoption process because they have the stigma as not always being the cutest or the most friendly.
