Causes: Education, Preschools
Mission: Charlotte Bilingual Preschool prepares Spanish-speaking children for success in school and life by providing superior dual language early childhood education. The preschool supports students' families with parenting, life skills and English-language classes, enabling them to sustain and nurture their children's educational and emotional development.
Results: In response to the need in our community, CltBP provides programs for nearly 500 children and families each year. A recent K-2 alumni tracking study found that CltBP students enter Kindergarten ahead of their peers, demonstrate higher skill attainment and competency, and maintain consistent growth and advantage. Together, we are redefining the concept of Preschool – not just preparing children for Kindergarten, but building an engine for social and economic change!
Programs: Charlotte Bilingual Preschool (CltBP) has been preparing economically marginalized Latinx children and families for success since 1999. Our core services include our 5-star licensed dual language Preschool Program for children ages 3-5, our Family Program, and our Creciendo Juntos (Growing Together) program for children ages 0 to 3 alongside their families. In 2018, we launched a 3-year pilot for a new preschool model called the Green Room, an extension of our Preschool Program that integrates students and families from different socioeconomic and linguistic backgrounds to accelerate student language acquisition and facilitate the flow of social capital.
