Charities Review Council was founded in 1946 for the purpose of protecting the interests of Minnesota donors. The Council's mission is to build donor and nonprofit relationships for strong, vibrant and just communities.
We do this by:
Target demographics: We strengthen the integrity of the nonprofit sector and nurture public trust, while educating donors.

Programs:
Approximately 8,000 people – and hundreds of businesses and grant making organizations – throughout Minnesota receive information from the Council to help them make informed giving decisions. Web site visitors (and callers via staff) have access to a database of information from all of the 7,500 nonprofits registered to solicit in Minnesota, thanks to a cooperative sharing of information with the Minnesota Attorney General’s office. The Council provides nonprofits the opportunity to align their governance and management policies and practices with the sound principles encompassed with the Accountability Wizard, also providing technical assistance through the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Toolkit to help participating organizations meet standards. We firmly believe that involving nonprofits in the review process improves nonprofit accountability in a way that Council-initiated reviews cannot.
