I began working for The Charitable Union in December of 2021. In that short time I have witnessed what a positive, critical impact our services have on the local community. Many of our clients have no other resources available to them that provide them with basic necessities, such as winter boots, coats, gloves and hygiene kits. For the homeless we provide thermal underwear, sleeping bags and tents. We also have a back to school clothing event and prom dress event. We give steel toed boots to those re-entering the workforce. We support new mothers by giving them layettes, formula and diapers. Also, we aide low-income seniors with incontinence materials.
Great work is done here that could not be accomplished without our volunteers. They are integral in helping us fulfill our mission every day!
Kudos to The Charitable Union!
I currently work at Charitable Union and am proud of the work we do in the Battle Creek area. For more than 123 years we have served the needs of the residents of Battle Creek. Our mission is to provide clothing and small household items, at no cost, to those in need and to advocate with them toward their self-suffieciency. Last year we distributed 457,792 articles of clothing, coats, household items and much more to over 11,587 clients. And we did not charge them one cent for what they received. It is a wonderful, caring organization and after more than 35 years in the nonprofit sector I am honored to be a part of this organization.
