Champions of Caring Connections, Inc. hosted a table at the 5th Annual Labor, Social, & Environmental Justice Fair at CalState University Dominquez Hills-Carson, California on Thursday, April 25, 2013. This was on the heels of a very successful Earth Day E-Waste Round-up on the previous Saturday at East Rancho Dominquez Park in Compton. Both events brought exposure and awareness to our organization. CCC provides first responder suportive services to homeless, low-income families in the greater Compton area through collaborative partnerships. Though a small organization, CCC operates four food distribution sites each month in collaborations with four different local churces; operate a connecting the arts program each Monday night for 2nd-6th Grade students from low-income families; provide a mentoring program for middle schoolers; provide literacy and nutritional training at two women's shelters. "It is in the shelter of each other that we live" Peggy Aldridge, Board Treasurer
Champions of Caring Connections (CCC) has been serving the greater Los Angeles community for over 10 years. We provide assistance to families in need of emergency housing because they find themselves homeless. Coordinating with other service providers CCC helps them find temporary housing while a more perment solution can be found. Secondly, CCC provides tutoring and mentoring to the children in the Housing Shelters. We don't want the children to get behind in their school work because they suddenly must move. Ms. Randle, the Director and Founder of CCC, is a retired educator from the Compton School District where she coordinated with many community service providers that CCC now works closely with. CCC also provides needed students with uniforms for school.CCC is a coordinator for Food Distribution Centers through out the city providing nutritous food to the many families who come each time food is provided. Some of the people return to volunteer whenever they can. We are hosting a Electronic Waste Event where people can get rid of old items like cell phones anything you can plug in to eliminate the community of these items that should not be put in the trash because its bad for the envuiorment. This E-Waste Event is on April 20,2013. Please call CCC for the location at (310) 635-9536. Thank you. Dr. Ruth Banda-Ralph, Chair of the Board of Directors
