Causes: Children & Youth, Crime & Law, Youth Violence Prevention
Mission: Provide counseling, gang prevention and intervention services, case management, athletic activities and other services to disadvantaged youth in the san fernando valley and greater los angeles area.
Programs: Communities in schools (cis)served a total of 305 unduplicated individuals of which 35% were 18 years of age and younger and 65% were 18-64 years of age. We provided services to approximately 1,200 families through our wrap-around integrated service delivery strategy. In partnerhip with the city of los angeles (mayor's office of gang reduction/youth development), cis served an estimated 2,500 youth in the summer night lights program by providing safe and healthy activities such as sporting and cultural events at five parks throughout the valley.
