Causes: Mental Health, Mental Health Treatment
Mission: The purpose of champions for children's mental health (ccmh) is to serve as an axis point for current and emerging leadership, training, resources, and targeted technical assistance within the mental health environment. Such purpose includes but is not limited to:* offering certified peer family support providers to families in delaware who have a child(ren) with behavioral health challenges* collaborating with critical partners to maximize mental health transformation;* providing technical assistance in organizational, system of care, and community program development and sustainability;* developing and providing training in critical areas of mental health systems of care, resiliency, peer to peer support, workforce development, and organizational management;* creating pathways of peer to peer support, sharing, and learning; and* assisting organizations, programs and communities in developing and fostering leadership;
Programs: Fsp services - balancing the needs of a family, following the suggestions of professionals and learning how to navigate the healthcare system can make the day-to-day work of a parent of a child or youth with mental health concerns tiring and frustrating. Families report that it often helps to have another parent to talk to and share their experiences along the way. A family support provider (fsp) is a parent or family member of a child or youth with behavioral and/or mental health concerns that has leadership and partnership skills that can be helpful to other families and the system that serves them. A champion's for children's mental health fsp will: - help families better understand the system of care for children and youth with special needs - serve as an advocate for families - help families develop skills so they can advocate for themselves - attend healthcare, school, and court meeting with families - serve as an emotional support and a positive role model to parents and caregivers - assist the system in providing services that are family driven and responsive to the needs of those it serves - work with families in solving problems related to the care of their child or youth - assist in identifying and training new leaders in the arena of family involvement - build community awareness about champions for children's mental health and our servicesthis program served 144 families during 2017.
family partners - family partners is a monthly peer-to-peer support group for families of children with behavioral health challenges. After dinner, the children move to another room where they are supervised with crafts, games, cards, blocks, etc. A facilitator sits with parents and caregivers to discuss any current issues families are experiencing. Resources are provided to families free of charge or help is provided to find resources for the situation they are in. Family partners is open to the public and everyone is welcome. This program served 74 families during 2017.
