Mission: #1: three-fold purpose: 1 end of life music-thanatology care, sometimes pastoral, sometimes clinical, sometimes both. 2) education in music-thanatology and contemplative musicianship; 3) publishing in music-thanatology and contemplative musicianship.
Programs: Clinical service accomplishments - publishing, education and end of life care programs and activities overlap. They cannot be separated out from one another. New r & d required for long-term research and publishing projects. A) revising and updating documentation forms needed to support evidence-based practices in music-thanatology professional clinical work; b) revising clinical internship documentation standards for student interns. C) revising general competency criteria for internship qualifying procedures and protocols and or re-entry procedures following an approved leave of absence; d) updating cautionary (substance abuse and mental health) protocols and procedures for the screening of future interns; e) revising clinical intake forms, procedures and protocols for hospital or hospice (agency) referrals; f) revising pastoral intake forms, procedures and protocols for (non-agency) referrals from parishes and or parish ministries projects. Other: g) letters of recommendation for agencies for placement for graduates. H) creation and publication of 28 educational modules. I) our combined national outreach pro bono portfolio efforts during fy 2017 served some 115 to 125 professional music-thanatology associates of the chalice of repose project; we paid for and distributed approximately 115 complementary copies of new publications to colleagues and associates. J) served a dozen terminally ill patients and their families who benefitted from our pro-bono programs and publications; k) served just under one-thousand professional clinical readers who subscribed to music and medicine. Chalice staff not paid for the writing of that article by the publisher international association of music and medicine.
