Mission: Of 25,000 Jews living in greater Brookline, half are not connected to anything Jewish; no synagogues, no schools nor any other Jewish organization. Without some place to call their Jewish home, this large segment of our population (singles, young couples and whole families) may be forever lost to the Jewish community. The good news: The Chabad Chai Center was created and geared for these Very Non Affiliates. Our goal is to reach this specific market through producing events that are on the cutting edge, yet with a Jewish soul. The Chabad Chai Center is the only organization in the Boston area that is solely committed to serving this large and sometimes forgotten group. We plan to act as alternate portal to existing and successful Jewish organizations, across the Jewish spectrum. As long as the people that we reach grow in their Judaism and stay connected with any kind of Jewish organization and community, we've done our job. We will be a referral service for all those singles and couples who don't & won't come to a Temple or a Synagogue for a service or function...but will be intrigued enough to come to a Jewish astrology night, Purim at the Comedy Connection or a spiritual retreat on Cape Cod. Building on the successful model of our sister organization, the Chai Center of Los Angeles, we aim to create a network of such marginally affiliated Jews (with a distinctly Boston flavor), that will ultimately serve as their entryway into the larger Jewish community.
