The Dallas CERT program provides free training to the community so that in emergencies (tornadoes, high winds, floods, fires and man-made disasters) there are folks who have the basic skills to rescue, treat, and assist others. As a qualified CERT trainer, I've taught numerous classes for the City and find that people from every walk of life find this training to be a valuable life skill that helps them at home, at work and even on vacation. Personally I've really felt a strong sense of accomplishment when some of us that have been trained have been asked to assist with emergencies outside our neighborhoods.
