Centro is a place that makes everyone feel they are part of the family and treats others with dignity and respect. One receives collaborations with dignity and respect, compassion and understanding. Overall, it is a place to bring families together to seek opportunities and solutions.
Centro Multicultural la familia offers a place in the local community for all to engage. Local educational institutions, religious institutions, non-profits and public sector organizations converge here to brainstorm, collaborate and problem solve with the benefit of all in mind. Centro gives a space to those of us who work with them to utilize our talents, pursue passion projects with a purpose, and learn from each other.
Many kids are raised in domestic violence, I understand firsthand the fear and anxiety this causes the victim, but sadly the children. I am grateful for organizations like Centro Multicultural La Familia which provides resources and empower those who decide to leave abusers. As a local volunteer and community leader, I find this organization extremely useful in giving victims of abuse hope and encouragement to find a better way of life. The organization also offers support in English and Spanish.

As a staff member of Centro Multicultural la Familia is a privilege to be able to help the community. Centro is not only a "job" for me, is an amazing opportunity to build relationships that have a great impact on my life and I'm honor to be there for the ones that are in need during this pandemic. We don't only focus on how can we help financially but most importantly emotionally. Mental health is truly important for Centro, we focus on making our clients feel trusted and comfortable.
Centro is amazing. It is the ONLY culturally competent, survivor centered, and LGBTQ+ specialized non-for-profit in the area. The programming they offer not only responds to community needs, but seeks to implement structural change for a safer, tighter knit, and more vibrant Pontiac for all immigrant families and peoples of color. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your selfless work.
El Centro Multicultural la Familia is an example of compassion and wiliness to help the ones in need. I have been in partnership with them for at least 10 years . Centro Multicultural La Familia, Inc has been in the community, my gush at least 20yrs and counting. And during this time, through their caring and professional work, have become well known and entwined with the local community. They strive to know the community so that they can provide the necessary programs and services, such as programs for Mental Health, Victims of crimes and domestic violence, Health workshops, collaborations with the Mexican Consulate, etc.; plus many other services such as assistance with applications for Medicaid, Medicare and other insurances, workshops for bullying, child abuse, anger management, human trafficking, etc.; translation and interpretation of documents, citizenship and life skill classes, etc.. You can always count on Centro to always be on the lookout for better ways to assist and enrich the community.
Centro Multicultural La Familia has been a leading service provider in the community for at least 20 years, that I have known them, probably longer. It is undeniable that the assistance, guidance and services they provide affect the daily lives of the many persons that come to their offices seeking help. I have been involved with them, as a volunteer and supporter for many years and can attest to their personal involvement and commitment to the community and the clients they serve
Gracias a Centro Multicultural por asesorarme en el censo 2020!
I have been volunteering at Centro Multicultural La Familia for a few months now. I love it here. The staff is extremely helpful, nice, and professional. They really do care for their clients and it's easy to notice just by the way they treat their clients. They are good at helping people find resources that will help them with any needs they might have. They most of all provide a lot of emotional support which is something that a good number of clients need a lot of. It is definitely a place that makes their clients feel safer and supported.

Offering bilingual support to vulnerable members of the community that are seeking help as victims of crime and domestic violence, suffering with mental illness, or battling drug addiction - the Centro plays an essential role in our local community.
Families come to Centro because of the trust and the services in their native language. They feeling better when they leave - Individuals are able to converse with their case workers and therapists in a language they understand and adding bicultural component. Services are excellent and have a good referral services to other agencies that can help too during times of difficult times getting behind in their light / gas bills. Quality personnel and excellent services.
This is a group of hard working individuals truly focused and dedicated to their mission. That mission being helping those victims in need of their support and services that goes a long way in the community. The ability to service victims in various ways is cleaning up issues in the community while providing an outlet for victims to reach out to and recover. It's a blessing to have an organization like Centro Multicultural La Familia in the heart of Pontiac. They are in so many ways the voice of vulnerable women, men, and children. El Centro is that shining light of hope that people in a crisis situation can reach out to. They help those suffering of substance abuse, and victims of domestic violence, but also help the community with other needs providing wrap around services.
I have worked in a professional capacity with members of Centro Multicultural La Familia, especially Blanca Mares, for several years. Blanca has been an intricate part of the Oakland County Coordinating Council Against Domestic Violence and was recently elected as a member of the Steering Committee due to her participation on the Council and her dedication to survivors of domestic violence. She gone above and beyond by becoming a member on both the Farmington Hills and Auburn Hills High Risk Domestic Violence Response Teams.
This is a great organization for victims of domestic violence.
In 17 years of being employed, I have never worked for such an amazing organization until now. I love and appreciate the family culture, the fact that everyone always works together, the fact that our clients always come first, the fact that we often times go above and beyond to ensure that we are meeting our clients needs within our limits. I can go on for days bragging about my enjoyment of being a part of such a great team! I wouldn't have it any other way.

Every staff member I've met is so dedicated to the cause. These people genuinely care, they want to help. Thank you, Centro MLF
Centro is one of the only non-profits in the area that truly works on trauma informed care and services and meets clients where they are at. In the society we live today, more agencies need to look to Centro for guidance as a model for what they should be doing to help under-served communities.
Each member of the Centro Muticultural staff and especially its leadership are outstanding advocates for their clients. They combine experience, empathy, dogged determinism, and a love for what they do to enhance the lives of everyone.
This organization is lean but serves so many wonderful people in the greater Pontiac and Oakland County community. Health, parenting, and counseling programs abound and the doors are always open. I'm so proud to support Centro Multicultural La Familia!

Centro Multicultural La Familia provides excellent services for the entire family, focusing on wholistic health - the same person can receive mental health services, engage in a domestic violence support group, enroll in the Early Head Start program for his/her children, and be a part of exercise and nutrition classes. Even better, these services are available in both English and Spanish.

Central Multicultural does a tremendous job at their work. They honestly care about the community and families that they serve and it really shows. I honestly have nothing but good things to say about the company. I will say though they need to update their social media presence.
The centro multicultural personnel goes above and beyond their responsibilities to help the community.
The work that this organization does is incredible. Providing counseling, social, and career service to a community in need using a culturally competent approach is an extraordinary service. The staff is dedicated to it's mission and to their clients. Outstanding non-profit!
Centro is one of the best non-profits I have ever had the pleasure of going to. Friendly staff, multiple spoken languages, and a nice environment to get help in. 10 out of 10 will recommend.
I donate to this organization because I believe in their mission. Also, see how they change lives everyday.
Centro is a wonderful agency that allows non-native English speakers to mental health services in a culturally sensitive way. They also advocate and empower the Hispanic community. A great agency!
I have answered the phone in CMLF, people call throughout the day looking for answers and support for their problems. Some need lawyers, and there are 2 available and attentive to the needs of people with very affordable prices. Some need family therapy, teens therapy, help with substance abuse, domestic violence. Some others need notary services, translations, interpretations and legal aid. Others want Home Visiting parenting programs, others need help with referrals in the community, information, and others attend events, classes and trainings at el CMLF. People go there because everybody is friendly, welcoming, honest, make you feel important as a person, they find answers, they love families and children, they are accommodating and kind. CMLF is amazing because of their availability and capacity of "multiply the bread" for the service of others in the community.
I have the pleasure of serving on the Board for this wonderful nonprofit agency. The staff is outstanding and the work they do benefits the community as a whole. From substance abuse and mental health services to healthy living activities and help with domestic violence issues, CMLF provides its services in a multicultural sensitive manner.
I have been a board member at CMLF since it achieved its non-profit status. The community has benefitted tremendously from the mental health and substance abuse services offered by CMLF, not to mention all of the other projects and programs. The most significant feature of CMLF is its leadership (Dr. Sonia Acosta and Debra Ehrmann) as they have been instrumental in the well-being of our community for many years and its staff.
Es la mejor agencia. Ofrece servicios para toda la comunidad incluyendo la hispana. Todo su personal es berlingue y muy amable.
El Centro Multicultural La Familia served the Latino population of Oakland and Livingston counties in many areas as Legal, Immigration, Social Services, Support Groups in Domestic Violence, Substance Abuse, court mandate or not; as well, make referral to the appropriate governmental agencies and filled their forms and applications: as Medical Insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, food stamps, emergency assistance, etc. Interpretation to those agencies, court, or where is needed; mental health and therapy bi-lingual. Translate of documents: English-Spanish; Spanish-English. Educational and Developmental programs that help families in the growth of their children. Referral to the locals educational agencies: Early On, Easter Seal, Common Ground, and local school district and Head Start agencies. but the most important think is that is non profit, what they matter most -is the friendly support they offer to the Spanish and any one who need their service.
ElCentro is a great organization as a Non Profit it is an Outstanding Organization for the Communities it serves and the For Profit Busineses it coloborates with in the Community. The first business I started was in Pontiac, a lite assembly of automotive parts at the Hight of our business I had 30 non English speaking Hispanics who performed very successfully in assembly and packaging of the auto parts. The results were 99.7% of full service parts resulting in no loss time or line shutdowns at auto assembly plants from 1988 thru 1995 when the auto industry created a mechanical method todo what we were doing manually. Our Hispanic employees received many accolades from Ford! Chrysler,General Motors and Fitsimons ManufacturingCo. Our tier 1 automotive supplier. All of this was accomplished throughEl Centro, Dr Sonia Acosta & Deb Ehrman. Top Line On Time Co. Tom& Trevor Raymond
The people here are dedicated to the community and the individual. Everybody is welcome and nobody is turned away. Services are offered to cover almost any concern. As soon as you walk into the waiting are you feel like you are home.
I had met great people in this place. It has changed my life. I love the support they have given me, not just me but my family as well. They won't stop working for you. They help you on every step of the way. The staff are always friendly and they really worry about every situation and will never turn their back on anybody no matter where you come from. God bless them.
El Centro Multicultural La Familia is one of the most competent, committed, and dedicated Non-profit that I have enjoyed the pleasure of working with during my professional career.
I have known this organization for many years - both personally and from my job in the local courts. This provided me with a very good background to evaluate the Centro Multicultural and especially it's dedicated staff.
I continue to wish them well in their endeavors here in Oakland County.

I have been a Board Member of Centro Multicultural La Familia (CMLF) since it began. During that time, I have greatly enjoyed working with Dr. Acosta and her staff.
I first met Dr. Acosta in 1998 and recognized immediately that she is committed to serving the residents of Pontiac and surrounding communities. She and her staff provide a number of services in a friendly customer-focused environment. This quality based service delivery system was developed by Dr. Acosta and the agency leadership. They lead by example which is very effective in teaching the principles of quality customer service.
The major goal of CMLF is the service of all races and cultures in the area. To make this happen, Dr. Acosta has assembled highly qualified employees that are fluent in English, Spanish, and other languages represented in this area.
It is difficult to imagine the impact CMLF could have on social problems such as domestic violence, unemployment, infant mortality, and others. However, due to a sagging economy, grants and donations have diminished slowing the agency’s ability to address all of these social problems. Yet, you can be assured that, CMLF will continue to provide a high degree of services to the public.
El Centro Multicultural La Familia is a great organization filled with extremely hard-working, caring and passionate people. They have been serving families in the marginalized community of Pontiac for several years. Their open-minded, welcoming and holistic approach to helping people is not only unique but genuinely hard to find in this type of work, and that is something that makes them stand out from all the rest. As a volunteer, I have seen firsthand the amazing work that they do and how they continue to improve the lives of many. They are certainly an asset to the community and will continue to grow and change peoples' lives.
