Causes: Education
Mission: The central piedmont community college foundation was established in 1965 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The foundation's mission is to generate private financial support to further the mission of central piedmont community college. Dollars raised by the foundation are utilized for scholarships, instructional and job-training programs, equipment, and faculty support. The foundation also provides funding that allows the college to respond to emerging community needs and address shortfalls in public support.
Programs: The foundation supports instructional programs and activities at cpcc with expendable and endowed support in order to provide students with the highest quality education and training. In fiscal year 2017, these funds supported over 130 programs and activities at cpcc which allowed cpcc to attract and retain outstanding full and part-time staff instructors to offer a breadth of courses required by students, provide counseling and academic support for students, provide training for displaced workers in order to equip them with skills to re-enter the workforce, and secure the latest instructional equipment and technology necessary.
the foundation supports students of cpcc with expendable and endowed support by providing cpcc funding for scholarships that are awarded to students based on academic excellence, achievement, need or other criteria as stipulated by donors. Scholarships assist students with tuition, fees, books and supplies. In fiscal year 2017, the foundation funded over 850 general scholarships to cpcc students and over 1600 scholarships to students in public safety programs. Scholarships are awarded by the foundation with collaboration from cpcc's financial aid department and faculty, as needed.
