Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Family Services, Human Services

Mission: Cmfcaa educates, supports, and advocates for foster and adoptive children, youth and families in central missouri by offering services and partnering with community and governmental agencies to develop healthy and self-sufficient individuals and families.

Programs: General programs - the organization has various other programs such as trainings, crisis intervention, food distribution, a clothing closet, etc. That, taken individually, do not comprise a large percentage of the organization's direct expenses.

transitions program- a program designed to help each child complete high school andto provide him/her with the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education. The transitions program also matches each foster child with a mentor to help ease the transition from foster care to college. The mentors also create a support system for their success.

respite services-care provided to a foster or adopted child for a short period of time by someone other than the primary caregivers (i. E. Foster parents, adoptive parents, or kinship parents). Respite care gives foster and adoptive parents and children the chance to have short, regular periods of time apart in which they can rest and recharge. It also provides crisis care for the times in which the trauma of the child is seriously impacting other members of the family.

There are many in our lives that inspire ys, but to be honest, it is my time in prayer that inspires me the most. God layes it on my heart or my husband's heart to help others, even wgen we are unable to provide for ourselves. My husband was layed off frim his full time construction job the same day that I was let go from my position at a local preschool due to others that failed to train me correctly. We were broke broke broke, in fear of water being turned off, electricity being shut off, our Foster/Adoption Parenting license being put on hold till we found jobs and finances in line, fear of our losing our car and not being able to pay rent, our phones were also turned off, Thank God for allowing us to still have a landline! God layed it on our hearts to buy a $20 gas car for our friends, though we couldn't go get groceries we helped a single mom get a few, we didn't have the money to so, but when God speaks, you listen! God is the reason we give! I know there are many others that have given way more, but we do listen when God speaks & do what we can, even in the midst of a storm! Have a blessed day!!!
