Established in 1972, the servicesource virginia regional office for habilitation services provides comprehensive day habilitation services to individuals who have significant and often multiple medical and physical disabilities. Services are based on the concept of person-centered activities, which emphasizes and respects the interests, skills and needs of the individual with input from family members and advocates. The servicesource virginia regional office for habilitation services is the largest provider of its kind in fairfax county, va. In fy 2015, the organization provided a range of services to more than 400 individuals with disabilities. Programs and servicescomprehensive day habilitation servicesservicesource provides comprehensive day habilitation services to individuals who have significant and often multiple medical and physical disabilities, with a focus on person-centered activities and community inclusion. Programs and services include:medical case managementfive nurses on staff provide comprehensive medical case management for individuals with significant health needs. Rehabilitation engineeringservicesource's rehabilitation engineering program provides customized assistive technology and adaptive engineering for rehabilitation equipment to promote greater self-sufficiency, self-help skills and mobility. Therapy programsservicesource offers a range of physical, speech and occupational therapy, as well as a number of "expressive" activities such as yoga, music, are and dance therapy. Servicesource also partners with the northern virginia therapeutic riding program to offer participants therapeutic riding lessons. These activities enhance quality of life and help with building and maintaining critical expressive, motor and memory skills. Person-centered activitiesbeyond core services and therapy programs, participants in servicesource's day habilitation programs take part in a wide range of person-centered activity offerings, from volunteer and paid work in the community to regularly scheduled social groups, recreational activities, and independent living classes.
