Staff make threats at kids they barely feed you they don't do any activities at all most of the staff are jerks they don't watch you let you do whatever you want they have 3 groups a week and it bothers the kids only use there community time Thursdays Fridays Saturdays and Sundays
I was a volunteer tax preparer for SPIN/Centerboard's Financial Stability Center in 2009 and 2010. As an Accounting student during a challenging economic period I thought it was a good opportunity to increase my skills. With the staff's help, I was able to do that. Their professional, yet friendly, approach helped me to further understand tax preparation skills and requirements. But something else happened along the way; I found that I was helping others during a stressful time of year (tax season).
And that is the secret of any successful non-profit - to help others whether they cross the threshold searching for help, looking for employment, or to volunteer. Their friendly, professional, compassionate approach serves to help all of their clients regardless of which side of the desk they sit.
Review from Guidestar
I make quilts and knit and crochet hats and sweaters for this organization. They always make sure that someone who needs these donations receives them. Have spoken with some folks that they have helped. What a worthy cause.
EXCELLENT programs and staff. I have referred many clients to this agency over the years and have always been impressed by the caring, honest nature of the case managers at SPIN.
As a donor, I have been very impressed by the success stories of real families who have gotten a "hand up" rather than a "handout" from this organization. I have met some of these success stories. SPIN consistently gets people off the streets and into productive lives. They take my dollars and turn it into hope...
I started as a volunteer in the office of SPIN in 1992. I've been happy to see the organization grow and sustain the wonderful programs it offers to get people to become self sufficent. I was an active board member for many years and am still always happy to help out when I can. The leadership is stong and very professional - all the while serving from the heart!
I have served on the Board of Director, Advisory Board, in the field working with the people SPIN helps and serves as well as donated money to SPIN. This is a great organization which fills a much needed gap in services for the homeless families of Orange County CA.
I have served on the Board of SPIN for more than 3 years. As a Board we work with staff and donors to return more than 90% of our funds into our programs. This takes tremendous fiscal restraint and yet the staff are 100%5 supportative. Each staff person is a key element in the organizations success. This year all of us are shouldering more of the administrative burdens to ensure that the working poor in Orange county have every opportunity to thrive.
Have been affiliated as a Board member and supporter of SPIN since 1997. SPIN is extraordinarily effective at making people self-sufficient, who have practically given up hope on life. The time and commitment made by SPIN (handful of people) yield remarkable benefits to the community.
I have been actively involved with the board for 12 years. It is a great organization with excellent staff and crucial services for the community.
SPIN really helps the homeless in Orange County. They have a tremendous success rate, helping families become self sufficient. They offer a hand up, not a hand out. Their operations are lean and almost all of the money donated to them goes directly to housing, or other services. They really care, and I highly recommend donating to them, it will make you feel better when you know you are helping families right here in Orange County.
