Yes, street homelessness is a.serious problem in NYC . We need better people , more compassionate people. We need mature , responsible , ethical and moral leaders. Unlike your staff ! While I was at your facility at 114 West 14th Street a girl was sexually assaulted by staff. A guy named Ely , The janitor , and the managers "Crystals boyfriend sexually assaulted a homeless girl , living at CUCS drop in center. What kind of a man attacks a Vulnerable , homeless girl with , no where else to go? What kind of a person is Crystal letting a Monster like that to be around such vulnerable young girls ? She must be really dumb or severely mentally Ill . Where is the director during all this . She doesn't report a sexual predator ? Tracy , the work from home , narcissist is only concerned about herself, Not exactly a champion for women !
Hra co tracts with cucs to place the homeless in supported housing. My first match was a disaster. All I get is an sro which is no better than the shelter system itself. The place I saw was a dump.the provider thout a picture of my room and the front door would suffice. My physical handicaps were not addressed in this match not was my choice of boro. So whomever at cucs thought voa-eny was okay you go live there and tell me how you like your 3 roommates, a pathetic efficiency kitchen and a cc camera in the living room.
CUCS is a great organization. They’re commitment to being a stand for people who are disadvantaged is inspiring. Their services provide a better quality of life that benefits the community. They work with urgency, passion, and rigor while working towards their commitment to rebuild the lives of homeless and disadvantaged individuals and families. This is what makes them stand apart from other institutions.
The Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) is an incredible organizations that touches thousands of lives. They help the forgotten and the homeless to rebuild their lives. They continue to provide services to these individuals and families in order to give them a sense of purpose and a place in the community.
CUCS has taken a lead role in the social service community. They provide a variety of services for the individuals they serve, as well as other provider agencies.
CUCS is an amazing organization. I've only been involved with the organization for a short time but I am regularly blown away by the breadth of services CUCS provides and the dedication of everyone involved.
Center for Urban Community Services is an organization that is committed to the community. The safe is extremely passionate and the work they do is invaluable. The stories I see of their success with the homeless and those with mental illness is absolutely remarkable.
As a person who was in a very unhealthy household i decided to leave with my four children who at the time depending on my ex husband for everything. I had just had my youngest daughter Madyson. But i knew if i didn't do something now about this situation it was never going to change and as for my girls i didn't want them to think the way we was living is ok and for my son i didn't want him to repeat his fathers actions. So through many tears we decided that it would be best for us to leave but found out no one would take us in. saldy things happen but we went into a homeless shelter and that is when i got myself back my life not saying it was easy but places that give single moms a chance i was very thankful for the help. I left mostly everything i didn't have nothing only a few bags with me but for these places to help out families who have no one to go to its a blessing and they help get your life back together !
i wouldn't change anything that i went through because it made me stronger today thanks to places like this that gives us a new start i am remarried now and my children are doing very well my oldest is serving in the Navy. Even though what we went through was rough but they offer help to make the ease a little bit easier.
After my husband suddenly passed away, I went into a deep depression and lost my apartment. While bouncing around from place to place, I didn't want to admit I was homeless. I went to city agencies for help in trying to keep my apartment, but that didn't work out and I continued to work with them in trying to find a home. The system was complicated and because of my severe depression I often missed one thing which would reset the situation. I was even in a special program for mentally ill people but nothing was helping. Then I met CUCS, they helped me to navigate supportive housing in NYC and guided me in submitting the necessary forms. They helped set up the interview and get me my apartment, this put me on the right track. I owe my life to CUCS and they are an amazing organization.
What separates CUCS from other social services organizations by far, is its committment to excellence in not only it's operation, but in its quality of services to the ALL service recepients. Staff at all levels of the organization take great pride in going above and beyond in their work. As a professional with 23+ years in the service sector, I continue to grow, and learn, and be challenged to embrace new and exciting appraoches to working with the populations we serve.
Supporting CUCS is the right thing to do!!!!
I gladly contribute to CUCS as they do great work in helping to rebuild the lives of homeless and disadvantaged people in NYC, specializing in people who have multiple barriers to housing. They provided direct services to someone close to me and helped her in finding a place to call home. During the process, despite not being the direct service provider, they stayed interested in her success which is a testament to how much CUCS cares about everyone.
This is a great organization with people who truly care. I volunteered here for the summer and it was, hands down, the most friendly/welcoming work environment of which I've ever been a part. With that being said, everyone at this company is well qualified to provide exceptional services for homeless/mentally ill individuals. A+ organization
I have met both "line staff" and management of CUCS and each have been *incredibly* smart, hard-working and dedicated. They hold themselves to very high standards and are always striving to accomplish more for their clients. CUCS serves some of the most disadvantaged people; those with mental illness, those who are substance abusers, those who are homeless. They help folks improve their lives and the staff treat clients with dignity.
