It is said that a society will be judged on how well it treats their young and their elderly. The Center for Trauma Counseling (CTC) gives passionate care to these vulnerable populations. They find creative ways of reaching and helping people heal trauma so they can move forward in their lives. There are two immediate barriers to providing this type of support for healing.
The first is affordability. CTC continuously searches out partners and funding sources to remove this barrier. While the need is great, those in need don’t know what is available and how to obtain it. Partnering with other organizations is the key to solving this dilemma.
The second barrier is transportation. CTC has implemented multiple “Avenues of Care” in order to reach those in need. They offer in-office visits, community satellite locations and co-located school-based services. Using their Mobile Health Unit, CTC travels to various community partner locations. Their well-trained staff and a comfortable environment go a long way in building the trusting space that is conducive for healing. It is an honor to work with the CTC organization that takes an innovative approach to serving the critical needs of our communities. That is what I call, a Great Nonprofit!

The Center for Trauma Counseling (CTC) focuses on the community and helping those in need. For those unable to travel to their office, their Mobile Hope Clinic comes to them. The Mobile Hope Clinic provides assistance to so many underserved people in the community. Having received many grants, they are able to support local schools and many facilities at the Boys & Girls Clubs. I heard firsthand how the Mobile Hope Clinic was able to counsel the often-forgotten parents of a drug-dependent son. That's when I realized how the Center for Trauma Counseling actually touches and improves the lives in our community.
My experience with Center for Trauma Counseling is as a former employee. I worked for CTC for around several years and loved every minute. There were amazing opportunities while there, from going through supervision with Helya, getting my license, refining play therapy skills, becoming trained in EMDR and then utilizing it with clients, there was always something new to learn. There were also so many different ways CTC was involved in the community, from being asked to teach law enforcement, working with the homeless population, school based counselors and then the mobile therapy bus, CTC has a wide range of therapists and abilities to serve so many populations. Years later, I still refer clients to CTC and discuss the different options/opportunities that are offered.
I was going through a tough time in life and finally decided to reach out for help. I was worried about the process of finding a therapist that I felt we can connect and would be able to help me. I assumed this would be a long process frustrating process. Fortunately for me my first stop was Center for Trauma Counseling. Not only were they very responsive, they were very concerned with my issues and asked me question to gauge the best fit for me. They set me up with a therapist who I feel was a perfect fit. The therapist was very attentive to me and helped me greatly work through my issues. I can honestly say I am in a much better place now.
