"succession planning," october 17, 2017, tri-branded webinar by slge, ipma-hr, and kronos. C. "understanding the state and local pension landscape," december 13, 2017, joint webinar by slge, the national forum for black public administrators, and springsted incorporated. 3) added 2016 data to the public plans database (ppd), a joint project with boston college center for retirement research and the national association of state retirement administrators. The free, interactive database (publicplansdata. Org) was expanded from 160 to 170 state and local pension plans (114 state-run and 56 locally-run), comprising 95 percent of public plan membership and assets nationwide. 4) continued as advisors to spy pond partners' government project on "ensuring essential capability for the future transportation agency," providing subject matter expertise on future workforce needs and trends. 5) continued coordination of south dakota retirement system project to provide an update on the state's implemention of automic enrollment and put it in a national context (for release in early 2018).
communications - elected and appointed decision makers, the media, and academic leaders use the slge's research and information1) held a "retirement (in)security summit" on october 2, 2017, in washington, dc. Speakers addressed the economic challenges facing retirees and the need for greater savings, an overview of the changing workforce, a dialogue on retirement planning, changes to public sector retirement plans and the implications for new hires, retiree health benefit strategies, and strategies to boost retirement savings. Videotaped interviews with five of the speakers, conducted by cammack retirement group, along with the videotaped summit presentations, were posted on slge's website and on youtube. 2) made 24 presentations of slge's research on retirement, health care, and workforce issues, including promotion of the ppd, at national and regional conferences and special topic forums. Presentations were made at the annual conferences of the government finance officers association, the international city/county management association, and the american society for public administration, as well as the national conference of state legislatures annual legislative summit and the national retired teachers association 70th anniversary celebration and national advocacy conference. Staff also made presentations at conferences held by the georgia city/county management association, the league of kansas municipalities, and the midamerica regional council's core4 colloquium, as well as a meeting of the national civic league board of directors and a northeast association of state transportation officials workshop on future workforce needs and trends. Staff shared u. S. Perspectives on retirement and workforce issues with global audiences at the 6th annual world pensions and investments forum, the spring meeting of the world bank and international monetary fund, the initiative for global development's fall frontier 100 forum, skytop strategies' forum on "the 21st century company, and a creative learning-sponsored lecture for students and practitioners of local government from the philippines. In addition, staff participated in nlc's public sector retirement advisory committee meetings, the 11-person nyu city health dashboard advisory committee, the gasb opeb communication resource group, and the 10-person advisory group on "preparing tomorrow's public service" sponsored by the volcker alliance.
