Programs: Digitization of archives project: the grant received was used to pay for the digitization of ghana's national archives. Ghana' national archives houses important historical information necessary to complete the mission statement of our organization. For example, it contains court records that describe in detail the names, locations and family lineage of tribes in ghana. It also contains slave inventory records, vital records, colonial records, an historic newspapers. Preserving these records are necessary for the genealogy research to conduct successful research in ghana.
this grant was used for the purchase and shipment of computer equipment to establish a genealogy and dna research centre in prince's town ghana. The local citizenry will manage the facility; maintain family history records; and gather and collect tribal information to be published in a public database for researchers in the diaspora to confirm/deny family lineage.
