I was a Deputy Sheriff working in Homosassa the day Cayla passed away. It was the hardest day of my career and the memory of that day will never fade away.
The strength the Barnes family has is commendable. I would love for there to be no more children drown in Citrus County. The Barnes family is working hard for that goal.
Jessica Moffitt Barnes and her husband, Sean, have worked tirelessly to pour their love for their daughter into Cayla's Coats. They provide warm coats and jackets to children, fund scholarships for swimming lessons, and provide loaner life jackets. They are actively involved in drowning prevention for our local community and collaborate with other non-profits groups who have the same objectives. They support drowning prevention lessons in our school. Jessica and Sean are true assets to our community and its children.
