Causes: Arts & Culture, Bands & Ensembles, Cultural & Ethnic Awareness, Music
Mission: The mission of the Cayambis Institute for Latin American Studies in Music (CILASiM) is to increase the awareness and appreciation of Latin American classical music by encouraging its creation, performance and study, and in so doing, develop bonds of goodwill and unity among the peoples of the Americas.
Target demographics: All Americans, north, central and south.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Many composers and countless performers.
Geographic areas served: Countries throughout the western hemisphere.
Programs: Composition competitions, public speaking, and other ways to create greater awareness about the richness and diversity of Latin American classical music. We also manage our own performing ensemble in order to showcase this incredible repertoire on concert stages and in schools.
