Mission: Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, rooted in the Gospel and Social Teachings of the Church, is the primary social service agency of the Diocese. Our mission is to serve with excellence, professionalism, integrity and compassion, the human needs of individuals and families, regardless of their religious affiliations and to provide leadership in mobilizing the resources of parishes and the wider community in addressing these needs.
Results: During 2010, Catholic Charities provided help and hope to more than 86,000 individuals with programs and services that include adoption and foster care; basic needs and disaster assistance; health care for the uninsured, housing and homeless assistance, elderly services, pregnancy and parenting support and refugee services.
Target demographics: Individuals and families in need, regardless of religious affiliation.
Geographic areas served: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence & Washington
Programs: Catholic Charities has a presence and maintains an office in six counties of the Diocese of Pittsburgh: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence and Washington. Three additional program sites in Allegheny County include the Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center (Downtown Pittsburgh), Roselia Center for Homeless Pregnant and/or Parenting Women (Oakland), and St. Joseph House of Hospitality for Older Homeless Men (Hill District). Catholic Charities also serves as the Area Agency on Aging provider in Lawrence County at Challenges: Options in Aging sites in New Castle and Ellwood City.
