Mission: The primary purpose of Catholic Charities in Terre Haute is to serve the poor, the homeless, the elderly, the neglected children and the needy.
Results: In Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2018: Bethany House Emergency Shelter - 54 adults and 28 children found temporary shelter, received case management, referrals and skills development. Clothes Closet - distributed gently used clothing and small household items to 7,063 people. Christmas Store - 2,432 family members from 599 families received clothing for each family member as well as toys for each child and household items and personal hygiene products for each family. Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank - 3,033,404 pounds of food were distributed through 90 Foodbank member agencies. As a certified affiliate of Feeding America, the Foodbank solicits, collects, sorts, safely warehouses and distributes 2.5 million meals each year to more than 32,000 individuals living in Clay, Greene, Knox, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties. Fishes & Loaves Soup Kitchen - served 33,000 hot lunches Monday - Friday and 11,400 sack lunches on weekends and holidays. Kids Cafe - provided 24,780 nutritious evening meals and 6,900 afternoon snacks to youth at Ryves Youth Center. Ryves Youth Center - 1,012 youth participated in a variety of activities. Ryves is a safe haven for children, fostering a positive attitude of self-worth through programs that promote physical, educational and social development for children ages 5-17 in our communities.
