Mission: The mission of catholic charities of the diocese of jackson is to be a visible sign of christ's love by helping the vulnerable and those in need, especially children, women and families. -by advocating for a more just and compassionate social order, and-by empowering people to help themselves.
Programs: Catholic charities mental health services include:hope haven home-based: provides counseling and service coordination to families whose children have a mental health diagnosis. 156 individuals were served. Responded to 138 crisis calls. 8 workshop participants served. 21 cases were served. Hope haven residential: provides residential services in a therapeutic crisis center. Services involve short-term respite with individual and group therapy. 52 individuals were served. Responded to 124 crisis calls. Therapeutic foster care: offers intensive in-home services designed to helpchildren with serious emotional disorders and develop the skills needed to function in the home and community settings. 53 individuals (continued from 990 page 2)were served. Responded to 57 crisis calls. 81 workshop participants were served.
jackson domestic violence services and rape crisis center: the domestic violence center in jackson provides safe refuge for the victims of family violence. The program provides emergency shelter, daycare, and counseling. The rape crisis center in jackson assists victims of sexual assault as well as family members and friends. A 24 hour crisis line is provided as well as mental health intervention, crisis intervention, long term counseling, police/court escorts, community awareness and emergency shelter. 170 individuals were served. 72 cases were served. Responded to 849 crisis calls. 4,349 workshop participants were served.
unaccompanied refugee minor: the unaccompanied refugee minor program places unaccompanied refugee minors in a therapeutic foster home where they can best develop appropriate skills to enter adulthood and achieve economic and social self-sufficiency. They will receive appropriate culturally sensitve care and services that are consistent with federal and state child welfare laws. Unaccompanied refugee minors are individuals who enter the country before they turn 18 years of age without a parent or guardian. 43 individuals were served as well as 19 workshop participants.
