CMS is a wonderful Montessori school serving preschoolers and elementary-aged students in the New Orleans area. It is very affordably priced by New Orleans private school standards and offers a much higher quality of education by staying true to the Montessori philosophy & method. Learning materials at this school are high quality, classrooms are beautifully arranged, the campus features lots of outside space in fenced yards and along Bayou St. John, and the teachers (all certified & credentialed) are passionate about a true Montessori approach. As a parent of multiple students at CMS, I feel very fortunate to have access to this option for schooling for my children.

Programs: Cathedral montessori school opened in the summer of 2010 to provide the new orleans lakefront neighborhoods with a progressive and challenging montessori pre-school program. Enrolling 38 students in its inagural academic year, the school became accredited in its first months of operation through its uncompromising fidelity to maria montessori's philosophy, curriculum and pedagogical tools. With a faculty of college-educated, montessori-accredited teachers, the school places an emphasis on diversity, through its relationship to the holy trinity greek orthodox cathedral, and its cultivation of a culturally, socioeconomically, and ethically diverse classroom. With resource faculty and programs, the school builds upon its montessori foundation to develop a curriculum with a focus on music, art, movement, ecology and environmental science and foreign language. Cathedral montessori school fosters a community of curiosity, respect and engagement in the world around it.
