The Castle Rock Senior Activity Center (CRSAC) provides an array of services that make a difference in our lives. Besides being a place of hope, love, camaraderie, and support on a daily basis, during this pandemic they have gone above and beyond to remain a resource for seniors. Although inside events are presently curtailed, the staff has been busy providing creative programming for the members such as online bingo, virtual drama/theater, at home arts and craft projects, and Zoom current event conversations to name a few. They have continued to provide meals for seniors by offering curbside pickup as well as meals on wheels and hot meal delivery provided by volunteer drivers. In these difficult and challenging times, the CRSAC has remained an oasis of hope for any seniors that may need physical, emotional, and nutritional assistance.

When I lost my husband in 1997 to cancer, I decided rather than staying at home and feeling sorry for myself, I would to volunteer work in the community. I found the center. It has filled my life over the past years and continues to this day as I am the present Board President.
During the pandemic they have continued to provide many services to seniors in the community and look forward to opening their doors to the members and public soon.

We moved back to Colorado in 2016 from Wisconsin after retiring in 2000. We settled in Castle Rock and immediately became volunteers for the Castle Rock
Senior Activities Center. I have had the privilege of driving all their vehicles, including buses for seniors going to various outings, the MV1 vehicle for transporting seniors in wheelchairs, and of course, the vans and cars for transporting seniors to their medical appointments, various shopping appointments and their participation of the numerous events conducted by the outstanding Staff at this phenomenal facility. The Castle Rock Senior Activities Center has a staff that has excelled above all expectations in their efforts to assist their Senior members in enhancing “loving life in the second half”. They have been extremely creative in their efforts to support all their members during these tragic times as a result of the covid 19 pandemic. Under the direction of the Executive Director, they have created virtual meetings, communications, delivering Meals on Wheels, hot meals and many other amenities while focusing on keeping our Seniors in touch with the status of events and news currently happening in the Castle Rock area. I, as a volunteer, have had the honor to support these endeavors as a driver, along with the many other volunteer drivers and other support volunteers in this great organization. This Senior Center has a Board of Directors, an Executive Director and staff that are totally committed in upholding the standards of this community and creating a better life for our Seniors as we go forward. It is my honor and pleasure to be an instrumental part of this organization during my retirement here in Castle Rock.

As a staff member, the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center offers an abundance of resources and activities whatever one's activity levels are. During COVID, in-person activities have halted, but we are more busy than ever. Between Meals of Wheels of Douglas County to curbside dining services, to drive-through activities and take-home art projects, one can still stay busy all the while social distancing. What a great, comprehensive resource.

I found out about the Center through my in-laws. When I moved here, I became a volunteer driver for their shuttle program. As a volunteer, I learned about how much more this Center has to offer-activities, programs, a gathering place and services for area seniors. The diversity in the age range is another plus as they offer what they do to seniors of all ages (50 and above). Many members often say "I don't know what I would have done without the Center" as they have relocated to be close to children and find themselves starting over. We are the best place for seniors to start "Loving Life in the Second Half."

Wonderful Organization! They do so much for our older adults of Douglas County. 2020 has been difficult year for older adults and they have been there for us in so many new ways. They re-invented the way they did things and created new ways foe older adults to stay engaged while stay safe. Keep up the good work.

In the best of times the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center is an incredible organization serving the Town of Castle Rock and much of Douglas County, however, during the many challenges of this pandemic this nonprofit is really stepping up! Although they cannot serve hot meals, and coordinate the many hands-on activities and numerous group trips, they have “invented” new activities that embrace “social distancing” and mask wearing. Additionally, they have significantly increased their social media use for those seniors that are tech savvy.

I joined the Castle Rock Senior Center in 2014. They offer a wonderful variety of services, education opportunities, sports leagues, and activities to help keep seniors active and engaged. I so enjoyed their mission that I joined their ranks as a volunteer shuttle driver in late 2014, and finally joined as a board member this year. I can’t say enough good things about the mission, staff and committed volunteers.

Castle Rock Senior Center fills such a need for seniors in the area. From transportation to medical and other appts, to fun outings, sports opportunities, meals, and connection to others through games and social events. And they do it at no to low cost for members and with great positive attitudes. It’s such a pleasure to volunteer for such a well run organization.

Castle Rock Senior Center has been very helpful and goes out of their way to welcome new members I recently moved to CO from CA and only knew my family one year ago. Today, thanks to CRSC, I have met so many people and have been to places I would never have gone. During this time of COVID the Center has done a remarkable job planning activities for us to participate in and given us the opportunity to stay in touch via Zoom calls. Thank you CRSC for all you do. The staff is wonderful and makes everyone feel special.

Castle Rock Senior Center has become like a second home to me. The staff always greets volunteers and members with a smile and a willingness to assist in any way they can. As a volunteer I look forward to spending my time not only with the staff but with other members engaging in activities. The center offers a wide range of activities for all age groups and eagerly takes suggestions for new opportunities. I have become a member of the Board and enjoy the camaraderie and candidness of the group. I'm looking forward to running for office and hopefully being reelected

I am a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels and have been doing this for over two years. CRSC with VOA is responsible for this program in Douglas County, and they do an excellent job organizing and directing the program. The people i have worked with there are professional, courteous, friendly, and personable, and I have enjoyed their company and working with them. Also, the Center is always well kept and a pleasure to visit. Ken Schader

The Castle Rock Senior Center has a monthly planning guide that CANNOT be matched. There are multiple activities EVERY day. PLUS the Senior Shuttle ride program that operated Monday thru Friday: shopping, doctor visits, prescription p/u, trips to the Senior Center for activities. In addition, the Center has (3) 14 seat mini buses for activities: shows, restaurants, special tours and events (ex. National Western Stock Show). I do not know of another Senior Center that comes close to matching Castle Rock !!!!!

The senior center does so much fir us. The ride service is a lifeline for castle rock seniors who are unable to drive. There are many activities and everyone is so friendly and happy to help. I love the games I do and really appreciate the “no deadlines” library where I can pick up a book or just sit in peace a read for a bit.

I learned about the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center as I began volunteering for Meals on Wheels. The CRSAC is a site to pick up these frozen meal boxes for delivery. I had no idea the scope and magnitude of resources that this place offers. They offer everything that those over 50+ could ever need and imagine. For those who are home bound and unable to drive there are shuttle services and meal delivery. There is an onsite lunch program for those who'd like to socialize and have a hot meal. They have your special interest groups and afternoon of games. Beyond that, they have activities to enhance your "life in the second half." These include ziplining, snowshoeing, whitewater rafting and other trips and outings (out to lunches, out to dinners too). I wish everyone could have access to these types of programming.

My wife and I moved here from Wisconsin during the summer of 2016. After an extensive search for an area that suited our needs, we found that Castle Rock was ideal. We had a home built and immediately started looking for ways to give something back to this great community. We found the Castle Rock Senior Activities Center, met a most cordial staff, and was introduced to the many numerous functions that CRSC performed for the Senior citizens on this area. Both of us immediately became volunteers……and now with over three years of involvement with this outstanding organization, we have found that ‘Loving Life in the Second Half’ is a true and meaningful goal and mission of the CRSC. They provide numerous activities for their members by providing them with various trips throughout our areas to dining, entertainments, river rafting, snowshoeing, plays, museums, zip lines and many other events.

These activities are made possible with our fleet of buses, cars, vans and handicap vehicles, making these events extremely enjoyable by the CRSC members. To support these activities, we have a highly extraordinary staff that coordinates all these events with our many dedicated volunteer drivers that have been qualified in all the vehicles they drive. This process works extremely well and has earned CRSC an exemplary reputation in this community. My wife and I are extremely proud to be giving back to this community through the Castle Rock Senior Center.

I joined the Castle Rock Senior Center a few years ago. Just last week I was at the Arapahoe Race Track to watch the horses run. It was a great afternoon. We took a ride on the centers bus and did not fight traffic ourselves. Next week I am going to a balloon animal class. Once I learn I am going to teach our granddaughter how to make a dog. A really great group of people helping each other. I am there to stay.

I have been involved at CRSAC since shortly after I moved to this fair city. Early in 2015 I began volunteering as a shuttle driver then as a bus driver for events. The staff, to a person, really care for their members and work hard to make sure there are many events for them to enjoy from cards, to bingo, to out-to-lunches, out-to-dinners, mystery trips, movies, reflexology, chair massage, BP checks, even drama classes and many others. They are always open to suggestions from members of places to go, things to see and experience. I'm very proud to be a volunteer and very happy to be a member. This is one outstanding organization.

I moved to an apartment Castle Rock in Oct 14 from TX where I was active in several things besides my small acreage where I gardened, mowed, built stuff and generally stayed active and busy. My daughter knew I'd need something to do with my time. She suggested volunteering as a driver for the "Senior Center. Was the best move I could have made. As a volunteer driver I drive shuttle cars that pick up seniors who need rides, buses to events such as dinners, lunches, plays, etc, and specials to take seniors to doctor appointments in the Denver area.
In the last 2.5 yrs I have observed just how much the staff and volunteers care for the seniors of this area. They go to the ultimate to make everyone welcome and to find and attempt to care for the needs of their members.
I have come to know the staff on a personal level and call each of them "friend". I also call myself friend with many of the volunteers and drivers. To a person they are caring and considerate of those they help.
The CRSAC is a prime example of an organization run efficiently but with heart. I'm proud to be associated with it and the people involved. I can say without hesitation that I get much more than I give.

The Castle Rock Senior Center continues to provide services, to the senior community in Castle Rock (1,000+ now), that include:

-new adventures
-rides in a Senior Center owned car, and/or bus, for field trips, medical, grocery, etc.
-ongoing learning opportunities
-lunches that are served 3 times per week
-plus many activities that provide an environment to easily make new friends and socialize with existing friends.

The seniors are consistently treated as friends and with respect by the staff and are given many opportunities to volunteer for other seniors and the community. Any opportunity to care for the seniors is at the top of the Senior Center list of values and goals.

I highly recommend this to all of my friends that are considering becoming a member.
