We love, love, love our Rosie cat! She is such a great addition to our family and our older cat Ginger loves her. Kim, the founder, is great to work with. The cats/kittens are well cared for and socialized prior to adoption. There is a lovely cat room to meet with your newest family member. Adoption fees are very reasonable. By adopting through Cast Aside, you not only get a healthy cat, you help an organization continue to do good work in our community. Thank you for all you do! I recommend you to everyone who is looking for a new addition to their family!

I can’t say enough good things about Cast Aside to Survive (CATS)! I’ve adopted two cats from them, and both experiences have been amazing. Kim, who runs the rescue, is so dedicated and makes sure every cat gets the care they need and finds the right home. The TNVR work they do is super important, and it’s clear how much love they put into it. My cats are happy, healthy, and have brought so much joy to my life, all thanks to CATS. If you’re looking to adopt, I highly recommend them!

Cast Aside to Survive was wonderful. I have never owned a cat, but saw a feral cat who looked extremely emaciated so I decided to feed her. A few weeks later she showed up with kittens. I’ve been feeding them for a couple of months but was getting concerned that as they got older they would start to breed and keep multiplying. A friend recommended C.A.T.S. as a possible solution. Although I live in a different county I was able to get a trapping session. They were able to trap 4 felines within a short period of time. Everything was very efficient and friendly. This was the best thing for the cats and me, and I am extremely grateful. Thank you!

Cast Aside to Survive does wonderful, important work. We were very impressed with every phase of the adoption process, from first contact on through going to the clean, cheerful facility and choosing two beautiful kittens. They're getting over their wariness and it's starting to be obvious that they experienced a lot of love before they ever met us, which can't be easy when you have so many kitties to care for, but they do it and do it well. We're very lucky to have them, and so were our much loved kitty cats!

If you're looking for a compassionate, community-focused organization to address feral cat overpopulation, look no further than Cast Aside to Survive. This remarkable non-profit provides essential TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) services, making a significant impact on local animal welfare. I had the pleasure of working with Kim for six cats, and their team was professional, empathetic, and dedicated to the cause.

I emailed Cast Aside to Survive not knowing what to expect, as there were feral cats next door in an abandoned property, and in addition, we were located in the New Paltz area, I was afraid that we were outside the travel area, but I shouldn’t have been worried! Kim was responsive, provided clear instructions on what to do next (read those instructions!), and relieved most of the stress I have had in having the feral cats have TNVR. I’m also emotionally close to these cats, so Kim also made me feel confident that they will be well taken care of when trapped.

Cast Aside to Survive mission goes beyond just controlling the cat population—they're committed to ensuring every animal they encounter is treated with care and respect. After caring for them with food and water before, during and after their surgeries, when Kim returned with the cats, she also included two free winter shelters for them! I was very ecstatic to find this out! I love the cats and she has also demonstrated love for them as well.

By supporting Cast Aside to Survive, you're not only helping individual animals but also contributing to a larger movement that benefits the entire community. I highly recommend Cast Aside to Surivive’s services to anyone looking to make a positive difference for feral and stray cats in need.

My husband and I recently adopted our kitten from C.A.T.S. From start to finish, the experience was nothing but positive. Kim's communication was direct and clear, and she was incredibly accommodating despite her busy schedule. Kim is so dedicated to the health and safety of these kittens and it shows the minute you step into the rescue. The kittens are healthy and happy. We committed to adopting our baby in June, but couldn't bring her home right away; not until she was big enough to be spayed. I was so relieved that Kim allowed us to work with Lynne (volunteer and kitty foster mom) to arrange visits with our kitty on the days she was there. Building that bond with our baby each week made her transition when we finally did bring her home in July so much easier. I am so glad I found out about C.A.T.S.. The work they do can be hard and unforgiving, not to mention heartbreaking. But thank goodness they do it. We are forever grateful to Kim and Lynne and C.A.T.S. for saving our baby and bringing her into our lives. They have our support for life.

I found Kim one day while she was out returning bottles for the rescue. She gave her time to me while I asked a million questions so when I had the chance, I started helping with donations. Since then I've gotten to know Kim, helped out where I could, told almost everyone I meet or shared on FB about C.A.T.S., gotten my friend to be a volunteer & have adopted 3 beautiful orange/cream boys.
The work that Kim puts into this rescue is astounding. She traps, cleans up, vaccinates, spays/neuters & returns most of the adult ferals. Any pregnant or just had a litter mommas are kept till the babies are weaned. The kittens are all vaccinated, spayed/neutered & even microchipped before they are adopted out. She makes sure all adopters are vetted by at least 3 people & the landlord if they rent.
She also does many fundraisers including collecting bottles, ink cartridges, sneakers & stuff for her online yard sales, her annual regular yard sale & her annual penny social. This is on top of taking in & caring for all those kittens till they're ready to be adopted out.
Kim is amazing! Check out C.A.T.S. or Cast Aside To Survive on FB. Beautiful pictures of all the kittens & sometimes updates from the new parents. It'll leave you wanting a kitten or 3.

So I called Cast Aside to Survive Inc not really understanding the services !
I have had a colony move up to my house from a derelict property that is recently rehabitated with a new owner - a mum chose to have her kittens in a quieter place at my house and it seems she brought all the others with her - there’s no way I was not going to feed a nursing mother or and the kittens -
The problem for me is I’ve had a very high prey driven dog and can not house any of them -
I got the mother to the vet to neuter her and ran lots of tests .
It was about a thousand dollars in total - there is no way I can afford that for 6/7/8 ferile cats .Kim from the C.A.T.S scheduled a couple of times to come - we had to cancel once because the fireworks kept them away for a couple of days -
I followed Kim’s instructions by not feeding the cats the day of or the evening before so it would be easier to trap them
Kim came two nights in a row and trapped three of the cats and had them neutered and returned them a day later -
The second day Kim came it was raining and she sat for a few hours on my property patiently waiting to see if she could get as many as possible - very diligent -
Kim was very thorough in explaining and I am very grateful that we have started to help this awful problem which I found myself in the middle of ! The cats don’t deserve this neglect and after meeting Kim and talking to other rescues I realize how big of a problrm the ferile cat community is-
I am grateful to Kim for dedicating her life to helping solve this problem -

Cast Aside helped me several years ago when I fell upon 30 plus feral cats, they made sure we had them all spayed and neutered and any kittens were taken in by them. They were the only organization that was willing to help me. They went above and beyond. They're determination, generosity and will to help stop the population and care for newborn kittens is absolutely amazing. They are a non-profit organization therefore needing us humans to help these beautiful kitties. Thank you for all you do Cast Aside To Survive!

Over the years I've adopted cats from various organizations and C.A.T.S. is by far the most well-run. Kim has truly dedicated her life to these cats/kittens and we are delighted with the two that we just adopted from her. When I've adopted from other organizations, it has taken me weeks/months to get the cats healthy. My new furry friends are healthy, well-socialized, and an absolute joy. I will certainly continue to support this organization via donations and tell anyone who is looking to adopt about C.A.T.S.

Cast Aside To Survive is an amazing organization and Kim is a special great caring person to head this nonprofit organization. I live in Sullivan County and I found out about CATS from our local SPCA. I submitted the in take form on line and was contacted within a few days. I was happy that my application was accepted since Kim had to travel from quite a distance from Ulster County. I did wait for a while since there were many previous applicants. We have at least 10-15 feral cats. Kim came up and was able to trap six cats in one day. Took them off to be spayed/neutered. I received photos of each one at pick up time and then details after the procedure was done. Kim returned them back and I’m happy to say that they are all doing great without the threat of reproduction in their future.
We truly need to support this fantastic nonprofit organization.

This is an amazing organization that not only helps prevent the proliferation of feral cats but matches up homeless kittens to homes that will provide care and love. Kim oversees the whole program and does it with knowledge and experience and humane compassion. We adopted two last month and they are great — I’m sure because of Kim’s supervision of the all aspects of the process — from rescue to medical care to fostering adoption. Kin has been doing this for 20 years — it would be great if she could get more funding from the community and others.

CAST was an answer to our prayers. My husband brought home a cat from a job site. Lo and behold, Peanut gave birth to 4 kittens on our dryer. We already had a house full of kitties including some from CAST. When I contacted Kim, she immediately came to our rescue. We were designated as the “foster parents”, and Kim worked her magic with food, supplies, vaccinations, not just for the kittens but for mama Peanut as well. She has a vast amount of kitty knowledge and advice that proved to be an invaluable resource for caring for these feline babies. When the kittens were ready to move on from Peanut, Kim brought them to her CAST facility to provide spaying/neutering services and for adoption. Moreover, she spayed mama Peanut for us! Her true love of animals is evident in the love and care she gave to our little cast aways

Been caring for a community of ferals that made their way to our house. Needless to say this has involved many kittens being born. Working with Kim from C.A.T.S. in Ulster County and just this week we caught 9 of the crew and Kim brought them for spaying/neutering. Everyone returned to our property very happy to be "home". Kim has been wonderful to work with and really shows how much she cares for these beautiful animals. We will continue to work with her until all have been TNRed and will remain ongoing supporters to her program.

After much communication, we were able to visit the Cat Resort and visit some kittos and we left that day with our boy, Cosmo. He’s the sweetest, funniest kitty who after some slow introduction work is now growing on Blu. Slow & steady wins the race, and they’re becoming playful siblings. I cant say enough about what a great experience it was! At the end of a work day, a hungry, crying, scared abandoned kitten was discovered outside our building in a hole amongst the bushes. The kitten was very distressed. Cast Aside was notified and Kim dropped everything to come to its rescue. She had all the proper equipment. She was so kind, caring and very professional. She really knows her stuff! Before long and without any stress to the animal she gently caringly captured the kitten. She gave us her contact information and updated us of its care and even sent a picture. My co-workers and I could now be at peace knowing he was in good hands receiving the best of care. We are so very pleased and grateful for Kim and her service.

I've been feeding and caring for a colony of barn cats for 4 years and had paid to have 6 of them neutered but I live on Social Security and between inflation and the growing number of mouths to feed, I needed help in getting the last 4 neutered. I contacted Kim and she came and set traps and by the end of the day 3 of the 4 kittens were complaining about their temporary housing. The 4th kitten ended up in the trap later that night after Kim had collected the other 3 and Kim came back early the next morning so that all 4 could undergo surgery at the same time. Later the next afternoon, I was surprised to see one of the kittens at the front door asking to be fed. Kim had returned all 4 kittens freshly neutered, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, checked and treated for fleas and ticks, and with a clean bill of health at no cost to me. The entire colony of 12 cats are now all neutered and happy and content living here at the farm. I can't thank Kim enough for relieving me of the burden of time and money to get these little sweeties neutered.

Indeed, C.A.T.S. FAR EXCEEDED our expectations. They came recommended - our expectations were already high.

Kim and C.A.T.S. captured 35 feral cats on the properties of next door neighbors. C.A.T.S. had the cats neutered at their chosen vet, ears marked indicating neutering, and returned all but the mother cat in 1 week. Mother cat returned after nursing her kittens; kittens were homed.

CATS's methodology is smart, efficient and effective: It consists of night cameras which determine how many cats are to be caught; small and safe traps; and morning pick-ups of the cats until all are caught. Within the week, 34 cats were returned and are thriving. (As mentioned above, the 35th, mama cat, was returned later.)

My neighbors had been feeding these cats for years. The population began when folks began dropping off domesticated family cats when they themselves were either moving out of the area or to housing that didn't allow pets.

We hope that our cat population will no longer increase and that our remaining ones will continue their lively feral lives!

They came from over an hour away, set up shop and patiently waited to humanely trap Count with a manually operated trap and then gently scooped up her babies. Amazing! We are so relieved the kittens have a safe place to nurse, grow and find forever homes and that Momma Count with be spayed and come back to us after the babies are weaned.

Every spring and I would collect kittens from our farm cats, clean them up, take care of them, then adopt!! It became an o going thing. I love kittens but they are time consuming and I didn’t want to keep contributing to the worlds cat population. I heard about Cast Aside to Survive and sent them a message! Kim was great! She let in touch as we moved closer to the “catch” phase. They came later in the evening because that’s the best time to set traps! Time I’m sure she could have spent elsewhere. Her work was a success. Over the next two days we had all but 2 male cats. She gathered them up and returned them a few days later…spayed/ neutered, vaccinated and safe!! They took excellent care of them! Now I can look forward to not taking kittens away from mommies anymore! Thanks Cast Aside to Survive…and Kim for all you do for cats and kittens!!! N

We all know there are many rescue groups out there that do amazing work every day. Every "furrever" home found is a feather in the cap of every rescue. What is different about groups like Cast Aside to Survive is the unending work they do to not only spending months trapping feral cats to spay/neuter, vaccinate, deworm, et., but the time and care they provide for the kittens that are often collateral fur babies gathered in the hunt to reduce feral cat populations and thus, reduce the number of kittens born to the feral environment. CAST Aside is exceptional. The program of deferalization they use results in the most loving, adjusted and sweet felines their are in this world. My three, adopted 2 years ago, are now living a beautiful life in British Columbia (indoors for now) while "mom" builds them a new catio on the back porch so they can watch the eagles and ravens and bear without getting hurt (or worse). Thank you, CAST Aside, for enriching our lives with these beautiful, funny, entertaining and adorable loves.

Just wanted to thank C.A.T.S. for all their outstanding work! A friend put me in touch with them to help an elderly neighbor who feeds a large feral colony in her woodsy back yard. Last year they did a TNVR effort but in the fall a few kittens were spotted, so a few weeks ago they came back and did a massive round up! The cats and kittens were all TNVR'ed and my neighbor could not be happier. When first confronted with the problem of unwanted litters, I tried to find a local solution but could not find a practical and financially reasonable one, until Kim and co. at CATS was mentioned to me. It is 100% invaluable service to the community and they deserve all the support they can get! Thank you for helping the CATS!

My name is Janet Levinson. I'm rewriting my post because I wrote too much that was not posted. So In a NUT shell. Kim and Linda just helped me neuter like 14 cats of mine to prevent tons of babies being born. They survive off of donations only but give of themselves daily morning until night. This is their passion in life. I don't know what I would have done if not for their help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I beg of any big companies, or NY State to help them fund what they do. Its not just about helping the cats but through what they do is helping the enviroment, keeping communities safe(wild animals that prey on cats) and clean and healthy. They do so much good and I urge all to give to them. They deserve so much more and I hope all who reads this will go to their website and read what they do. I cannot fit all that I would like to say, but their website will show you. Thank you Kim and Linda I am beyond grateful to you. Janet Levinson

I have not adopted from Cast Aside . I actually feed and care for around 10 feral cats at my home. BUT I know that Kim Kelly and her husband and staff give of themselves every waking moment to provide care, food, to neuter all the feral cats that they rescue . They tame them and provide homes for them , when if they did not do what they do , these poor cats would die in the cold of winter, or have parasites, become a food source for foxes, or wild dogs. They work hard to rescue them from GAIL at Project Cat who kills these precious kitties no fault of their own for being born, and are helpless. I have donated food twice and $50.00 and I will do much more when I can to help. In all that I have been through in my life, a husband that left me pregnant, my home flooding 4 times losing everything, losing my job, health problems with my heart and bad knees (I'm well now) My cats that I have in my home 4 of which are feral kittens that I took in, I would not trade anything for the JOY they give to me. I have provided shelter for the out door ones to be safe and KIM has come and trapped many and took them to spca to get neutered to help stop over reproduction and I will be calling on her again soon to help trap a few more. There are no words to express the wonderful caring people that they are. I would urge everyone to support them as much as you can. So many people in this world just TAKE, Its rare that you see many people give of themselves the way they do. Please help them.

Not only did they provide so much information, but when we went to visit our kitten for the first time, we saw all the others in the foster home, well taken care of and clearly loved. This is a wonderful place to not only support but to also find a Cat of your own if you’re looking!

The dedication and professionalism demonstrated by Cast Aside to Survive is truly admirable. Taking action (Kim the Amazing) and focused on TNVR and, I quote, "I wanted and needed to take the wheel and extend the services beyond not just TNVR but to remove the beautiful, often sickly viable kittens from a life on the streets. I NEEDED them to know the warmth and love of a human's touch" , Cast Aside has prevented thousands of kitten births while finding warm and loving homes to hundreds of kittens that otherwise would have either added to the feral populations or, worse, died from disease of injury. Friends with two of the volunteers, I was introduced to the three kittens, images attached, adopted them, and have not only entertainment every day, but loving fur friends who enrich my life daily. The best non-profit animal group I know (and I know many).

I had two cats living in my yard. One of them had its ear clipped, but the other had a mangled ear, and it was hard to tell if it needed TNVR. I contacted Kim, who kindly and patiently helped me trap him. She took him off to the vet, who did the deed, and now Buster is very happily a part of my family with his little cat brother, Buddy. The work that Kim is doing is very worthwhile, and I encourage people to support her in her quest in any way they can.

This organization is one of THE BEST I have ever dealt with......They really care about the cats that are left "to cast aside to survive" heartless people that put these poor cats outside when they are no longer of any use to them or are moving and don't want to be bothered with taking them with them etc.....out the door they go to fend for themselves and reproduce...this organization is "johnny on the spot" to come and rescue them. I now have one that I added to my own three rescues that was trapped and neutered, shots, etc. by them and he is no longer "feral" and lets me hold him and give him the affection he so really needed and deserved...that is because of this organization! I can't praise them enough!!

She relentlessly works to nurture and get these babies (often feral) to the point where they are lovable, adoptable , forever homed animals. Sue Marie, I applaud your tireless efforts.

We decided to start looking around for friends for our year and a half of kitties we had gotten a referral of cast aside to survive by a friend of ours, and after looking at the selection we knew we would find exactly what we were looking for! With a little guidance from Kim after hearing about what we were looking for she introduced us to two beautiful little kittens in need a home who sounded like they would fit with us perfectly!

.. and boy was she right! after having them home with us for just two days, we could not possibly imagine our life without them! Manor and Jockey, have taken right to our ‘bigger cats’ and our bigger cats absolutely adore them! They have both taken them right under their wing and have been romping around and showing them the ropes for the past two days straight! (I don’t believe anyone has slept!)

Manor is our explorer and has taken the lead with trying to figure out what’s what, not afraid of anything! jockey did spend the first day hiding under the couch, but she was not alone in that even, as her brother (my bigger boy cat) set up camp right under there with her!

Kim really is truly a Wonder Woman, juggling everything that she does with such ease should be rewarded! The extra shares on Facebook, the likes on Facebook The referrals to friends and family gets the kittens from her hands into the perfect homes, and You can tell the minute she starts speaking about the cats, each one, that this is truly her passion and that she really does pour her heart and soul into what she does at cast aside to survive. If it wasn’t for her knowledge and her ability to match us to our perfect new little fur babies so well I don’t think this would have been as smooth of a transition as it was! We are truly grateful for Kim and this nonprofit for everything that they do!

I've known Kim for a long time. I know she goes out of her way to help in situations where other people or organizations wouldn't get involved due to it being too big a task.
We were lucky enough to see one of Kim's rescue cats and we adopted her. When Kim found her, she had just given birth and Kim was also able to rescue her kittens. Little Natalie (the mother cat) is now known as Little Girl and lives her days soaking in sun and playing with her toys.
Kim was able to get all the kittens vaccinated and socialized and they were brought to a local shelter to be adopted out.
In addition, I spotted what seemed to be a stray cat at our local supermarket. Kim lent us a trap to catch him and have him scanned for a microchip. He ended up being a feral cat, but Kim lent out her resources to help reuinte this cat with its owner if it had one.
She puts in a lot of time fundraising for her nonprofit and doesn't always have the help she needs, which speaks volumes about her because she is working harder than anyone else to sustain a cause she firmly believes in.
She really cares about TNR or she wouldn't be spending the time and resources to fund something that is not-for-profit. Whenever she can, she helps out folks in need, especially when there is a feral or stray cat colony involved.
I highly recommend Cast Aside to Survive.

I have known Kim for almost 2 years. CATS is an indispensable resource in our region.
Kim and Linda's mission, to rescue and Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return (TNVR) vulnerable community cats, addresses with kindness and expertise an underserved part of our county's animal residents.
They adopt out viable kittens whom they have rescued.
They also offer spay and neuter certificates. That's huge.
May they grow and thrive in a world full of feral cats who depend on the kindness of others.

As I was nearing retirement, and knowing the Nolen's, I kept watch of the kittens looking for forever homes and just fell in love with Figgy! HOWEVER, months away from retirement, the Nolen's agreed to keep him for me. Then brothers appeared on the site!!! Called Lewis and Martin (now Ralph and Obi-Wan Kenobi (OB) these brothers joined Figgy as a threesome in late July filling our home with fun and frolic and love. It is the work that this organization and its volunteers do every year to ensure many feral cat communities have reduced birth rates due to the trap-neuter-vaccinate and release program (TNVR). It also provides forever homes and foster homes for the kittens born to feral cats that these wonderful people manage to capture for this TNVR program. What is truly amazing is the compassion and love the organization demonstrates in each and every feral TNVR cat and the dedication to finding homes for the kittens. I am a lucky lady to have been chosen to take these 3 kittens into my home to love and care for babies who might have otherwise never seen adulthood. Thank you for 1) bringing these treasures to my office to meet me, 2) caring for them until I returned to the US to pick them up, and 3) being the dedicated and caring people you prove to be every day. I simply love these little guys (and Figgy is not so little anymore!!!! Growing, finally, like a weed!!!).

This nonprofit organization is much needed. There are so many feral cats in the county. They multiply fast and before you know it there is an overabundance of feral cats. My story started out with 2 female cats I believe were dropped off and both became pregnant. Before I knew it there were cats every where. I contacted the ASPCA who referred me to Kim Kelly. She reached out quickly and helped me trap this colony of cats. The job they all do requires a lot of dedication, commitment and hard work. They do this on their own time. I am very grateful.

I had noticed a beautiful black young cat coming around my property...of course I put some food out for him and went twice to get a have-a-heart trap from two different shelters with no luck trapping him. I didn't want him to make a bunch of kittens so someone from the Kingston shelter put me in touch with Kim Kelly...we e-mailed each other several times and she came by with her trap and it took her no time to catch this beautiful cat, neuter him, tip his ear, de-flea him and gave him a rabies shot, she also trapped one from the KOA campground next door to me, and that one was not feral so she place him at the Kingston shelter to find a forever home. The black cat she took care of for me I named Milo and continue to feed him twice a day. I have four rescued cats of my own, a bunny named Clover and two rescued turtles~ I can't say enough good things about Kim and her organization...I want to help in some way, and said I could help them out with "fund-raisers" I really don't know what this town would do without Kim!
