This is a safe and welcoming facility. I was a resident here over 30 years ago. I was able to push through some serious issues when I was a teenager. Now as an adult I am giving back to the place that helped me.

As a long time volunteer, I have seen firsthand the results of the caring, committed staff who provide constant care, support, and counseling to youth in crisis and I have listened to these youth talk about how much Casa's belief in them has helped them.

Casa Youth Shelter is a place where youth get an opportunity to have a life changing experience. A clean warm bed, a safe place that feels like home, fresh cooked meals daily, activities for leisure and family reunification. There is family/youth counseling, art classes, pet therapy, music lessons, field trips, and the list of programming is ever expanding. I feel proud to serve on the Advisory Board for Casa Youth Shelter. I see the impact this shelter has on helping the local and greater community and look forward to many more years of service.

A few days ago I met a woman who ran away from home multiple times as a teen because her situation at home was just unbearable. She became a resident at Casa Youth Shelter where she met the counselors who changed her life. Now, around 20 years later, she is a successful business woman and a mother of two. And this is exactly why I truly believe in the cause of Casa Youth Shelter.

I am a volunteer at Casa Youth Shelter and I can’t emphasize enough how important this shelter is for the youth in crisis within our communities. The shelter provides youth with a safe place to sleep, meals, counseling, and so much more. The staff there are amazing and are filled with an abundance of compassion. The youth that pass through those doors leave with confidence, stability and the tools they need for continued growth.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and clinical supervisor with over 30 years of experience with non-profit agencies. I also have first hand knowledge and experience of Casa Youth Shelter as well as many many other youth shelters in the U.S.A. . In my professional opinion Casa Youth Shelter is the finest example of a youth shelter that I have ever seen. They are the model that all others should be measured against.

I have volunteered with Casa for a little over a year. I am a member of their Youth Leadership Program. Everyone that I have met at Casa has been kind. "YLP" helps volunteers to become confident through sharing their opinions in front of their peers.
This service helps teens to have a safe place to stay- all the service is worth your time.
I would recommend Casa for anyone looking for a great place to do service.

After several years of attending some Casa Youth Shelter events, I was asked to join their board of directors. I wasn’t so sure about that kind of commitment. I wanted to meet the people and learn more. I toured the shelter, asked a lot of questions of everyone and observed. The whole thing was real. The people, the love, the commitment, the lack of politics and self gratification is unlike anything I have ever seen beyond family. I wanted to be part of this. I decided to accept their invitation and join the board for one year. That was 12 years ago. My years with Casa have been a gift for me. I love this shelter and the work we do. The work is so exceptional. It’s not just a shelter. There is individual counseling, group counseling and family counseling offered. A range of supportive services such as Art Therapy, Pet Therapy and L.I.F.E. Skills to name a few. This little shelter can change lives.

I have been an active Board Member of Casa Youth Shelter for sixteen years. I always marvel at the participation level of everyone involved with the shelter, from Board Members and employees to every volunteer putting hours into supporting the mission of our shelter. There is great satisfaction in watching an entire community rally together to help homeless, abused, and abandoned children return to a safe environment. As the ancient proverb says, "It takes a village to raise a child" We dream of a day when all children are raised in a safe and loving environment but, until that day comes, Casa Youth Shelter will be there to welcome every child with open arms.

I am a proud 20 year Board member of Casa Youth Center. The Board, like our late founder Myldred Jones, are firm believers all children need a safe place to live. Unfortunately it is not always at home. Myldred wanted that safety and security for our troubled youth. This is the reason Casa was started and still exists today after 40 years.

In 1987 I joined the agency as Executive Director and for 25 years saw the great results that occurred for thousands of teens and family members . Casa Youth Shelter is blessed with staff that give from the heart and board members that always find a way to support the critical needs of teens in crisis. As Director Emeritus now, I watch from the wings and am so proud of the many accomplishments of all our supporters who are dedicated to helping change lives.

As a Board Member, fund raiser and volunteer, I am so proud to be a part of an organization that supports young adolescents in need. The 12-17 year old age group has little in the way of support services when a personal/family crisis hits. At Casa Youth Shelter, each year more the 200 adolescents find the physical, mental, emotional support and guidance they need to reunite them with a caring family member. In the four years I have been on the Board I am continually impressed with the commitment and professionalism of the Shelter's staff, the rapport they build with adolescents in crisis situations, and the work that is done to reach out to the broader community and educate on the challenges and resources available to families and adolescents in crisis.

I have been a board member at Casa Youth Shelter since 2010 and started volunteering there a few years earlier. Our founder, Myldred Jones, named it "Casa" for a reason. It truly is a "home" for the workers, volunteers and residents and spending any time at all there, you quickly realize that it feels like a family. The staff and volunteers give one-on-one attention to the neglected, homeless and runaway teens and not only attend to basic needs, but also offer counseling to the teens and families in times of crisis and beyond. It's so impactful to be able to help these teens and families reunite and have hope for the future. I am so proud to be a part of this amazing orgainization!

I have been volunteering at Casa Youth Shelter for thirty years and a board member for the last twenty years. During that time Casa Youth Shelter has provided shelter, food, clothing, counseling and family reunification services to over 24,000 teens and family members in crisis. As a board member, I’m responsible for governance, fund raising and supporting the needs of our amazing staff of youth supervisors, counselors and management team. Our primary goal is family reunification. That goal has been achieved every year since our doors opened in 1978. It’s a privilege and an honor to be a part of this wonderful organization.

I've been a Board Member for 8 years along with being a volunteer with my Therapy dog. This place is amazing. They do so much great work for teens in crisis and the community at large. Its a small organization, but its run like a Fortune 500 company. The Ex Director and her staff have a passion for what they do and do whatever it takes for the kids and the shelter. I work in the corporate world and Casa runs so much more efficiently. The teens there tell me " its like a family" and sometimes they just don't want to leave. Their mission is to reunite the teens with a family member and do so over 90% of the time which is amazing! Attached is my "Therapy" dog giving a teen some much needed TLC!

I have been a board member of Casa Youth Shelter for only about one year but I was the Clinical Director of this fine agency for 25 years, retiring about 3 years ago. I find myself so impressed with the work of the shelter staff from the Youth Supervisors working the floor to our Executive Director at the helm and everyone in between. This is not an agency that sits on it's laurels. As community needs change so does Casa Youth Shelter. One example would include Casa Youth Shelter being a leader in the greater Orange County area in understanding and provision of treatment and relief to the problem of Human Trafficking. Another would include providing workshops, in-services and conference speakers to the problem of teen bullying. A third would include providing a youth leadership conference annually to hundreds of local teens. All of this while also providing the finest youth shelter care in the region coupled with their tremendous family counseling program that allows for safe reunification of youth with their families. To say that I am proud to be associated with this great agency is an understatement.
