Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Child Abuse Prevention, Children & Youth, Children & Youth Services, Crime & Law, Domestic Violence

Mission: As part of a former two county organization, and now as a stand-alone program, Advocates for Children has had a particularly strong presence in San Mateo County since 1999 when the first permanent office was established in the county. We provide Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers for under-served abused and neglected children in the foster care system. Our Advocates provide stability and hope to youth in very difficult situations, as well provide them with a voice in the legal arena. Our mission is to support, mentor and speak on behalf of abused and neglected children as we would our own, giving them every opportunity for a promising future.

I've talked to the staff at this nonprofit and really been inspired by their dedication to helping neglected and abused children. CASA matches volunteers with foster kids and provides a lot of training and support to help the volunteers be successful. Volunteers stay engaged for many years with their foster child. One of my friends volunteered for years and loved it.

Incredible program staff that care about the kids and volunteers. A real depth of knowledge and professionalism. An agency wholly committed to improving the lives of foster children and youth in the community.
