For the third year, I have donated to the local CASA program (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to help the program host a Christmas Party for foster children, their foster and/or bio parents. This year there are almost 90 children. These children oftentimes feel isolated being in foster care and this party allows them to see other children that are just like them! At the party, Santa hands out gifts they have specifically asked for and there is plenty of food and games. Last year the Grinch even attended and was a favorite of the children. Our CASA serves children ranging in age from birth to 18 in three counties; the need for volunteer advocates and support staff is great as children, sadly, continue to come into foster care.
