I was nominated for a scholarship, and they made easy to apply and I was accepted and notified on on time. I also enjoyed getting see Cal Ripken junior, I love that they encoprerate celebritiy speakers at the banquets. My only 2 issues are the long banquets, and that it's at times too fancy.
We are thrilled to have partnered with Ben Carson Scholars program to create a vibrant and engaging book room for our school. Thanks to their support, we now have a welcoming space filled with a wide range of new books that capture our students' interests. The comfortable seating and organized layout have transformed reading into a favorite activity, making this a well-loved spot in our school. Watching students enjoy the space and develop their love for reading has been incredibly rewarding. We are so grateful for this wonderful addition to our learning environment!
The Ben Carson Program has been such a gift to our school. The Ben Carson room is a place that is utilized as a motivational resource within our building. Students at our school are able to enjoy the peaceful reading space around their lunch blocks as well as in the mornings or afternoons as a part of classroom incentives. We have parents within our school community that come in regularly to volunteer their time engaging with students while they are in the Ben Carson Room. The Ben Carson Fund has allowed us to keep the room clean, organized, and engaging with newer materials and comfortable seating arrangements. Students in our school love this space and I am so thankful to play a role in helping to provide that opportunity within our building.
We began our adventure with Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. in the fall of 2014. Our reading room opened in April 2015. Our students and library have benefited from the resources of the reading room. Mrs. Candy Carson, representatives from The Deaver Phoenix Foundation, and representatives from Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. were welcomed to our school as we had the Grand Opening of our Think Big Reading Area. They were greeted with representatives from our school district: the Superintendent of Schools, Board Members and Principal. The past 10 years, students have used the area to continue to develop their love for reading. We have enjoyed the benefits of the grant provided by the sponsors of the Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. I hope to continue to see the benefits across the nation as other schools are involved with this organization and are given the same opportunity. The staff in Maryland have been very helpful over the years in helping guide the use of the grant funds. Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. is a great organization to partner with as a grant receiver or a sponsor of grants.
Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. is an amazing organization. The organization supports and encourages students who make an impact on their community. My son is a four-time Carson Scholar. The scholarship he received will be very helpful when he begins college. It's wonderful that this organization awards students who strive to make the world a better place.
When my sons were little we signed them up for soccer. They ended up giving the ball to the other team every time it was in their possession. When we asked one of our sons why he just gives the ball away he said, “isn’t it good to share.” Needless to say there are no trophies or medals for sports hanging in their room.
What they do have are dozens of wrinkled paper certificates for academics and service that were sent home in backpacks with no fanfare. My friends talk about these amazing sports banquets where parents cheer as their athlete is individually recognized on stage.
Fast forward to 2023 and 2024 when my sons were individually on a stage with the Carsons and a list of their academic and service achievements were highlighted at a banquet. They wore the Carson Scholar medals with pride. Both my sons are Carson Scholars. They are Boy Scouts working on their Eagle Projects. They have dedicated themselves to community service. Both have over a 4.0 GPA and make good choices to achieve that daily.
They finally have a trophy. It sits at their school prominent in the office where name plates list past Carson Scholars. It is proof of how it is good to share. Thank you to everyone who has donated so students like my sons feel seen for their goods choices and encouraged to achieve.
My dad had to quit school at 13 when his father died. His lack of education made providing for the family a lot harder. When my dad passed I was determined to establish some form of scholarship in his honor. When I researched the Carson Scholars program I knew I had found the perfect solution. Dr. Carson and his wife Candy are two of the greatest patriots in America who have established a fund that promotes success with young scholars across all boundaries. I like the concept of a perpetual endowment where the interest on the fund pays the scholarships and it is very well managed. No one is taking huge salaries and the people involved in management are true professionals. If you want to do something to honor someone in your life, this is one of the greatest choices you can make. I truly believe God directed me to this fund and it is blessing many young lives.

After my dad's passing I wanted to establish a scholarship fund in his honor because he never had an opportunity at a good education, having to leave school at 13 when his Dad passed away so he could support my grandmother. I did a lot of research and discovered the Carson Scholars Fund which really addressed all of the goals I had for an endowment. I have been involved in the program for several years and just started an additional endowment in the honor of my late Aunt who's passion was education for 75 years as a Catholic Sister. Ive met Dr Carson and his wife Candy and many of the program administrators. This is an exceptional organization with very little admin costs.. most goes to helping well deserving well vetted candidates. I can't say enough good things about them and highly recommend. Thank God for Dr. Ben Carson and his wife Candy and the folks at Carson Scholars.
After having served the Carson Scholars Fund (CSF) through the Associate Leadership Council for 2.5 years, I'm inspired and motivated to serve the CSF's mission more than ever. I'm very excited to continue learning and growing with the scholars that the CSF serves, while engaging both former and current Carson Scholars in educational and professional development network activities. :)

I was fortunate to be a 4-time Carson Scholar back in the early 2000s and since then the CSF has continued to support and empower me to give back to my community. I've had the opportunity to volunteer with CSF staff and other volunteers the past several years and am inspired the community, the positivity everyone radiates, and the overall commitment the CSF has to academic excellence and volunteerism.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to create a Ben Carson Reading Room here at Royal Palm Beach Elementary School in Royal Palm Beach, Florida during the 2023-2024 school year! Our K-5th Grade Students have enjoyed an amazing year filled with amazing books in such a relaxing atmosphere in our camping adventure-themed reading room.
The representatives from the Carson Scholars Foundation supported us throughout the planning stages and made all purchasing and organizing so much fun! Our opening day/ribbon cutting ceremony is a day I'll never forget, including special guests from the Carson Scholars Foundation, Private Donors, Local Dignitaries, and School District Leaders. Students and staff enjoyed motivational words from special guests, visiting our reading room for the very first time, and ribbon cutting along with confetti!
I have volunteered with the Carson Scholars Fund for many years and I can't think of a better organization to be a part of. The small staff is able to accomplish so many things from awarding scholarships, building Reading Rooms to fantastic events.

I am a parent of a two times Carson Scholarship Award. Carson Scholars Fund the donors, volunteers and all members are wonderful and welcoming they are helping so many scholars to stay focused, motivated and to dream big. My experience with this nonprofit organization is unremarkable seeing the number of students that are awarded scholarships and celebrated for their hard work it is amazing the length that they go to celebrate the scholars accomplishments. I just want to thank all the donors, the staff and most of all Dr. Ben and Candy Carson for making it all possible.
I was an elementary school teacher for 7 years and know first hand the impact encouraging higher education early on can have in a child's life. I volunteered to judge scholarship applications for the first time in the 2023 scholarship year. I am very glad to be associated with such a great cause. The staff is great and really it's all about those kids the award is going to! Hope to someday sponsor a scholar myself, but for now volunteering is how I can help this organization continue to do good in the world.
I have been involved with CSF for almost a decade and most recently joined the board a few years ago. It has been amazing to see the impact on young children not only in Maryland where it all started but around the country.
My husband and I have been volunteering with the Carson Scholar program for over a decade. Our “job”, which turns out to be a joy, has been to score applications. It has been a pleasure to read and see all of the wonderful things the youth of today are accomplishing and have to offer to the future of our country. Our country has so much hope in these young students who reside in every area of our country.
I truly appreciate the fact that the Carson Scholarship program recognizes service and scholarship. This is something we should all be looking for in our young people.
Our “job” takes approximately one hour a day for one month a year. The time is worth every volunteer “penny. “. Add helping at one of the several annual banquets and the joy seen when the Carson Scholar receives their well deserved award, one’s heart is full.

My daughter received recognition for her academic and community service achievements as a 4th grader in 2003. For the next 10 years, she was recognized by CSF for her continued success, in and out of the classroom. Each year, I marveled at the student talent that was honored. Recognition of this magnitude is often reserved for athletics, but the CSF made it a goal to recognize students for the content of their character and their dedication to learning.
I joined the CSF Team as a volunteer more than 10 years ago after observing the staff fulfill their objective year after year. I am proud to work with so many dedicated professionals and look forward to many more years of contributing to the work of the Carson Scholars Fund.
Carson Scholars is an amazing group of people to work with. They are stellar communicators and have a huge heart for children and making sure they have opportunities to engage with books. This program will absolutely change the lives of so many children!!

The Carson Scholars Fund is by far one of the greatest organizations I know. The programs are excellent motivation for our youth today. The reading rooms are fabulous and a great way to get young children to read. Their banquets are an awesome way to show the children that their hard work is not done in vain. Becoming a Carson Scholar was a dream of mine ever since I learned about the program in the 4th grade. After transferring to a school whom supported the ideas of students finding ways to grow outside of the classroom and securing funding for future endeavors, I made it my goal to become a Carson Scholar. I was not selected the 1st-year that I applied... A real disappointment. I did not sulk or become bitter... I got better at what I was already doing! However, not being selected the first time fuel my determination, work ethic, and involvement. The next year, I opened an envelope informing me that I had been selected as a Carson Scholar. Now, a 4-Time Carson Scholar and Sophomore standing at the University of Florida in my First-Year of College, I am thankful for the let down and blessed to be associated with an awesome organization known all over the country. Earning a Carson Scholarship along with many others has helped me to be worry free of financial burdens for my college education and graduate school. More importantly, knowing that monies donated to Carson Scholars goes directly to the heart of the program and what Dr. and Mrs. Carson said they would do and that is to send scholars to universities with less financial worry. I have looked up to Dr. Carson since first reading Gifted Hands in the 3rd grade. I began following and reading about his many stories, mission trips to help children around the world and his generosity. When I found out about Carson Scholars, I immediately set a goal to become a Carson Scholar. It took me 3 years of focus, dedication to my studies, and a serving heart to my community. I am a proud to be a Carson Scholar and will continue to strive for greatness in my career and serving my community. Carson Scholars Fund is a GREAT organization. They really care about the scholars and promote a positive environment for them to express their achievements.
The pure excitement and genuine reactions from our students and teachers is priceless! Fifth grade students who shared they normally do not enjoy reading have been lost in their books. One student read Dr. Carson's story and said he was transformed! This reading room has been the greatest gift for our children! Everyone loves our room and the experiences they are having!
When it comes to non-profits, Carson Scholars Fund is in a league of its' own. When it comes to non-profits that advocate for young students who excel, CSF wrote the book. When it comes to non-profits that put education and giving back to communities ahead, CSF rules. And when it comes to scholarships and supporting alumni scholars long after they've aged out, no non-profit comes remotely close to the Carson Scholars Fund.
I have been working with the Carson Scholars Fund for several years to help raise funds to create Carson Reading Rooms and Scholarships in Palm Beach County. The support and administrative services from the Foundation have been outstanding. We also have received nothing but high praise and positive feedback from principals, teachers, and Board of Education Members regarding the tremendous value that the Carson literacy initiative has been to the district.
On a personal level we have gotten wonderful sense of accomplishment in working on this initiative. We continue to be very very proud of our association with the Carson Schokars Fund and look forward to continuing to support education in our county through the Reading Room Progran.

It has been so wonderful to work with the Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. I believe that this organization is one of the best nonprofit that our school district have been associated with as we worked to open three of the five Ben Carson Reading Rooms in the state of Georgia. Our facilitator at the Carson Scholars Fund carefully guided us - step by step - through this process so that we were ready for the successful opening of our reading rooms. This organization understands the role that reading plays in overall student achievement and truly wants what is best for students. I am impressed by their dedication and commitment to the work they are doing.
A 6th grader last year was sent to an alternative school for bringing a knife to school. This student was a "regular" in the school library, and I was devastated upon hearing the news. I was further saddened when I came to the realization that the alternative school he was being sent to had no library. Can you believe it? A school without a library? I decided to contact his grandmother with whom he lived, and asked her if she would be willing to stop by my school every other week to pick up some books for him to read at home. I knew what he liked to read, so I could gather a little pile and have them ready for her to pick up in the main office. I couldn't send her home with books from the school library because her grandson was no longer enrolled in my school but I COULD send her home with books from the Carson Reading Room! I filled a bag of books every two weeks for her to take home and her grandson LOVED the books. I even found out his grandmother was also reading the books I was sending home! Because all of the books were returned weekly, I allowed him to take home a bag of books from the Carson Room to read over the summer. Reading books for pleasure would not have been an option for this student during the last few months of school if I didn't have the Carson Library. The grandmother didn't want the responsibility of returning public library books by a certain date or paying for them if they were lost, but given the flexibility of coming to the school at her convenience to drop off or pick up books made the arrangement possible. The Carson Reading Room serves many purposes in my school building and I am thankful to have it.
The Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. has provided our rural school an opportunity for our students to enjoy the gift of books and opportunities for many years to come. We were able to turn an ordinary room into a welcoming and exciting place for our students to leave their worries at the door and get lost in adventures found in books. We are grateful for this opportunity and was pleasantly surprised how simple the process was to make this room a reality. Everyone with the foundation made sure the process ran smoothly.
Due to the generosity of the Carson Scholars Fund, it gave my son confidence to pursue his dreams and to help afford college. Carson Scholars Fund far exceeded our expectations as a nonprofit. The students at my school have been blessed immeasurably by the gifts of our beautiful, fully stocked book room that we use multiple times daily. Our students love to visit the room and are growing academically as well as gaining a love for reading. Our school can never say thank you enough for this gift.

Having had my niece recently recognized as a 2018 Carson Scholar, I have been compelled to read more and more about the organization and what it stands for. What a tremendous gift that has been made available to student's 4th through 11th grades across this country. Students are being recognized for not only their academic excellence in a world that places so much emphasis on sports, but they are being recognized for humanitarian contributions that speak with more actions than words, but resonate with in our communities. Seeing the humanitarian efforts performed by these students being recognized, brings awareness to many needs that people tend to turn a blind eye to. The Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. inspires students to Dream Big, set their sites and shoot for the stars. It encourages students to "Think Big", be the nerd in the school. The qualities that Carson Scholars exude should send out a very loud and clear message that there is great hope in the next generations that will, one day be our countries leaders. I for one after watching my niece receive her award, and reading about the accomplishments of those recognized, am encouraged by what our country has to look forward to! Thank you to the Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. for being the type of organization that promotes learning and humanitarianism. It is welcomed and refreshing!!!
The Carson Scholarship was always a part of the schools in which I worked as a counselor and an administrator in Anne Arundel County, MD.
I now sponsor a scholarship at my grandson's elementary school in Tucson, AZ.
Just getting started with this organization and inspired by the hope it offers to all students. The connection to Dr. Carson, a real life example of the benefits of reading and pursuing one's dreams to make the world a better place, is a message our children, and future leaders, profoundly need.
I recently attended their We Can Be Heroes event, an exceptional evening attended by Dr. Ben Carson and his wife. I was so impressed with the positive energy and wonderful entertainment provided. Their message really resonated with me and reminds me why i choose to support the Carson Scholars Fund!
Working with the Carson Scholars Fund was a fabulous journey. From start to finish the communication was prompt and always helpful. The members were so eager to make our experience a pleasant one! I have worked with many organizations and none can measure up to the quick responses and helpfulness of CSF. In particular, Lacey Richards was such a pleasure to work with and her correspondence was almost immediate. Her help was concise and prompt. Our CRR is a very special part of our building and our school community.

I've attended several CSF events over the years and have experienced firsthand the impact this organization has made on students around the country. The students who receive scholarships from CSF are accomplished individuals who contribute and give back to their communities. Many form their own NFP's as a way to give back and truly embrace the spirit of this organization.

Carson Scholars Fund, Inc is the best nonprofit I have ever been associated with as a volunteer and donor. They truly want students to excel in the academic arena while being well rounded and not just concentrate on sports. As a long time volunteer at Johns Hopkins Hospital I have known and admired the work of Dr. Carson. After reading all of his books I learned about his and his wife's amazing nonprofit and began to research more on the Carson Scholars Fund. I have long been dismayed by our country's educational system and feel that anything which can motivate deserving students to read and succeed is worth my investment. As the parent of a Carson Scholar who was first recognized in 5th grade and recognized with renewed status annually, I can attest to the impact this organization has on young achievers. My daughter sees herself as a scholar and views her goals as every bit as attainable as the accomplishments of the distinguished speakers and role models she has met and heard at Carson Scholar Banquets.
I have been working with the Carson Scholars Fund since 2011 when the middle school in which I teach, was awarded funds to create a Carson Reading Room. Working with the staff at the Carson Scholar Fund to create the room and present it to the students was a very delightful and rewarding experience. The students at my school LOVE the variety of books in the reading room and frequently ask their teachers for passes to go to the room. The grant we received from the organization also allows us to purchase incentives for our students that help motivate the more reluctant readers to enjoy a book. Finally, I attend the Carson Reading Room conference every fall where I gain valuable insight on the latest and greatest books to purchase for the reading room and even the library at my school. At the conference we get a chance to talk to other reading room coordinators and share ideas. We are also treated to a fantastic dinner!
I received the Carson Scholarship in 2010, and still think about it all the time. It felt great to be recognized for my achievements in school and in the community and it serves as motivation for me to continue to excel now in my job as an engineer. At the scholar banquet, I was amazed by all of the talented students also receiving awards. The scholarship is not just about the monetary reward and the medal, but the honor and pride that comes with it.
I have been working with the Carson Scholars Fund for just over a year now and I cannot express completely how happy I am to be involved with this foundation. I have had the honor to have a reading room bestowed upon my campus. The entire process of creating this warm and nurturing room was very smooth and comprehensive. My students really enjoy reading in their new room and this could not have been made possible without the help and support of the Carson Scholars Fund.
The local and national chapter of the Carson Scholar fund were extremely helpful in establishing a Carson Reading Room at our school. Not only did the organization raise the funds for the development of the room, but they also gave step by step instructions on how to create a team to develop the room, guidelines on the purchase of books, and ideas for decorating the room. They were very supportive in assisting us with our opening day ceremony and provide input on how to best utilize the reading room. This is a great team to work with and our students will greatly benefit from this valuable resource.
The Carson Scholar Fund has been a wonderful organization to work with. We have worked together to create a wonderful reading room where the students at my school can go to read. The environment in the room is warm and welcoming. The Carson Scholar Fund has provided support and resources throughout the entire process of planning, creating, and opening our reading room. Our reading room is fully stocked with many books and magazines. I look forward to a long relationship with the Carson Scholar organization.
The work that the Carson Scholars Fund does to ensure quality reading materials in under-served schools is incredible. We have just over 1000 titles in our Carson Reading Room and still have funding to obtain more, newer, and requested books. Many organizations offer used, rejected titles from other libraries or schools and think that is sufficient and acceptable to send to schools serving students from lower socioeconomic circumstances. CSF understands that students need quality materials- not those discarded by others.
The people I have worked with are passionate about literacy, show a real interest in our students, and are still available for support even after the fanfare of opening a reading room has ended.
My experience with the Carson Scholars has been terrific! As a reading room coordinator in the first middle school reading room in the country we are in the special position of working to motivate young adults to read. The Carson Reading Room has been just the place to make that happen, especially now that we have updated it with the support of the Scholars Fund. Daily there are students who visit our reading room, to read, work on class assignments and relax in a welcoming reading environment. Our school is honored to have a reading room to serve our struggling readers and provide a space where students have a positive, low pressure reading experience. None of that would have been possible without the support of the Carson Scholars Fund!
I love how the organization helps award scholarships to kids to go to college. It is a great organization with amazingly talented and hard workers.

This organization provides students with the opportunity for independent reading with their Ben Carson Reading Rooms. These reading rooms are colorful, book-filled rooms with cozy nooks and couches where students can choose a book and let their imaginations build knowledge and dreams!
Dr. Carson and his wife Candy have given me the chance to live the American Dream of receiving a college education. Not in my wildest dreams did I believe that I would win my school's nomination to compete against all the talented applicants from across our great nation, let alone being named a Carson Scholar. The values that Dr. Carson and his wife live their lives' inspire me and taught me that I must give back to not only my community, but to my country. The commitment of the Carson family and staff to family values, education, and community service are instrumental in the growth of the Carson Scholars Fund in creating more Reading Rooms across the country. Community service is the backbone of each Carson Scholar. As a five-year award recipient, Dr. Carson challenged me to do seek leadership roles, which ultimately prepared me to enter Honor College competitions. The colleges asked me about the mission of Dr. Carson and how my service work has influenced my career choice. I can proudly say that I was selected for a full-ride scholarship. Dr. Carson's belief in me is the reason why I am a first-year undergraduate student working on medical research. The Carson Scholars Fund is the real deal, supporting future scientists, teachers, and community leaders. Do not hesitate to donate, as the monetary award I received was sent directly to my college.
I am proud to be a Carson Scholar! Ben Carson is a great man with an amazing story and the Carson Fund continues to open doors for our children. As a Fifth grade Carson Scholar, I knew college was in my future. The Carson Fund makes the college dream a reality at such an early age.
Carson Scholars is an incredibly important organization that has provided hundreds of students across the Country achieve their goal of a higher education. As a recently retired 40 year Middle School teacher in Maryland, I personally used the Carson Scholar philosophy to change the lives of so many kids. Our children need desperately to see the purpose of a good education as well as the love for helping others. This non-profit is beyond Dr. Carson's dream, but something people around our country are willing to support and watch grow. I will continue to offer my personal assistance in moving this program across the country. This nonprofit is truly what America needs to stay on top of the world in education.
There is a dire need in our country to improve the philosophy of education. Students are in desperate need of confidence and drive which will lead to determination, and most importantly, character. DR. Carson has found the way to do just that. Using the principals that his mother used on him to transform him from the school dummy to the most saught after neurosurgeon in the WORLD, Dr. Carson has turned failing schools into places of success and joy. Our children are our future!!!!! What more important nonprofit organization could we have than one where those who are destined to live off the system are transformed into joyful, prepared and productive members of society.
I cannot thank the Carson Scholarship fund enough for motivating me to do more community service. After hearing about all the accomplishments of other young people around me I realize how much more I can do. I love helping people.

The Carson Scholars fund is one of the better run 501 C-3's out there. It functions quite efficiently; giving back more than 90 cents of every dollar received into scholarships and national programs such as Reading Rooms. Every volunteer we engaged with throughout the years offered a positive demeanor and approach. Dr. & Mrs. Ben Carson have been successful imparting the Funds' belief among it's group of workers and the world alike; which is that high achieving students who demonstrate a humanitarian spirit be recognized and rewarded.

The Carson Scholars fund was the very first scholarship my son applied for. He was floored upon receiving the award letter. The fund has an amazing group of volunteers and unlike some other funds, are readily available should there you have a question or concern. Even more amazing is when Dr. & Mrs. Carson along with a host of motivating V.I.P.'s attend the banquet ceremonies. This couple doesn't disappear after the ceremony, they actually pose for photos and autographs with attendees. Motivating children to excel is their specialty. Their actions are indicative of what this scholarship fund is about.
The fund is able to maintain costs below 10%, quite impressive feat by a non-profit these days.
Carson Scholars are great students who not only achieve top grades, but they are wonderful role models for their classmates. In addition, they contribute to humanity by performing community service. Thank you Dr. Carson, Candy Carson and Staff of Carson Scholars Fund for keeping Dr. Ben Carson's Dream alive to have a Carson Scholar in every School in the USA.
I first became familiar with Dr. Carson many years ago when I first read "Gifted Hands." I was so impressed by his story of overcoming many challenges thanks to the guidance of his mother in his youth and all that he accomplished in becoming a world renowned pediatric neurosurgeon. He has truly been an inspiration to me and I have been pleased to donate funds in support of the Carson Scholars' program over the past year. He is a very positive role model committed to encouraging and supporting youth to follow his path and to pursue success through higher education. I am truly proud that I can support the Scholars program.
I was "introduced" to Dr. Carson via a Chick-fil-a leadership seminar. His story captivated me and then a close friend took his 11 year old son to Johns Hopkins and Dr. Carson's partner's care.
Dr. Carson's appearance at the National Prayer breakfast in February 2013 ("youtube.com", 22 minutes) was all the impetus I needed.
Since that time I have been an "apostle", sharing Dr. Carson's story, the clip on "youtube" and the success of the Carson Scholars program. There is much work to do in order to get our country back on the track of "one nation, under God". God bless Dr. Carson and his family and God bless the USA.

My name is Jim Wohlford and just played in the carson scholars fund golf tourney in bethesda md. The tournament was first class and the people were wonderful. As an ex- major league baseball player that played 15 years i have played in over 100 celebrity golf tournaments in my lifetime. First class tournament and first class people. I am from central California and believe in what this organization stands for. Helping young people dream big learning to read and becoming future leaders. Dr Carson And his wife are special people who really understand what needs to be done to help the future generation of this country to succceed in life. Working hard learning to read at a young age and becoming future leaders is very important to the well being of this country. The staff at the Carsons Scholars Fund Is led by Amy Warner and Shelia Butler. Two women who are very dynamic and outstanding individuals. The whole staff is dedicated to helping young people reach their future goals and becoming great citizens. My wife and I plan on supporting this fund for many years to come.
I am a member of a book club in Baltimore County, MD. Our club decided that we needed a project. After assigning Dr. Carson's newest book, "America the Beautiful" we know we had found a worthwhile cause to support. We were determined to put one of his Reading Rooms in a Baltimore County school. We held a fund raiser that included Dr. Carson signing his book and speaking to the guests. The response was overwhelming. Everyone was so impressed with Dr. Carson's Reading Room ideas and the difference that they could make in the lives of young children. We raised enough money to fund at least 3 reading rooms! The principal from the first school chosen to receive one of our Reading Rooms attended the event and was excited and energized by what an impact this could have on her students. At a time when our education system must compete with video games, TV, etc. it is wonderful to see the schools have an opportunity to show young children what a difference reading can make in their lives. Dr. Carson, his wife and his entire staff are passionate about reading and what reading can do to improve the lives of everyone. Books are the windows to the world and these Reading Rooms can open up the ways to explore, learn and grow.
Early in 2010 my husband and I were invited to a preview event of the movie "Gifted Hands" , based on Dr Carson's book of the same name. Cuba Gooding, who played Ben , was present and we got to meet Dr Carson's mother Sylvia as well as his son BJ. We were very impressed with Dr Carson and his passion with education and giving back to others. Some months later we had a "friend raiser" party at our home and we and our friends raised a substantial amount for the Carson Scholars Foundation. We continue to support the Foundation in many ways and have come friends with Dr Carson and his wife Candy. For the Hillendale Country Club, Ladies Book Club, I was able to arrange for Dr Carson to do a book signing of "America The BeautifuI " . Our Book Club decided to have the event raise enough money for a "Carson Reading Room" . We had such success enough money was raised for 2 or 3 Reading Rooms for needy Baltimore County elementary schools. The children love their "own " room where they can read for fun and develop a love of reading, and maybe be go on to become a Carson Scholar! Wouldn't it be great if other Book Clubs teamed up the CSF to fund " Carson Reading Rooms" around the country!!!!!!!! Giving these children an opportunity to become the best they can be.
The Carson Scholars Fund has awarded me with a scholarship for the past six years. This recognition verified my hard work in school and gave me the opportunity to attend the annual banquet. At the banquet I got to hear many prominent speakers who gave me much to think about and reflect upon. The foundation has showed me the impact that normal people like Dr. Ben Carson can have on the community and the world, which motivates me to work for our God in my own life. I know that I am not the only one who has been changed and motivated by the Carson Scholarship Foundation, and I fully support all funds being directed to this organization in order for these people to continue their Kingdom work.
At a time when our nation is declining and the general public places more of an emphasis on reality TV stars than scholars who will work toward its future success, it's refreshing to find a group that is working to reform the American education system from the root of the problem itself -- the people. The Carson Scholars Fund believes that the best way to battle ignorance is to re-instill and re-prioritize the values of educational success and humanitarian qualities in our youth. Dr. Carson is a truly brilliant man, who, fortunately for us, was blessed with a mother who knew the importance of intelligence. Not all kids are so lucky. That's why I'm glad we have non-profits like CSF and teachers who strive to encourage excellence.

With 12 grandchildren of my own, I'm honored to contribute to something I believe in. I believe in our children and their ability to rise to the challenge if we simply provide the example and then give them the opportunity to shine. I don't know if any of my grand babies will be a Carson scholar, but I know this is not a 'fuzzy' achievement. I would be very happy to see everyone of them set their sights on academic and community excellence. To all you scholars out there, congratulations!

5 time Carson Scholar. I think it's very important to recognize our children for all of the hard work and effort they put into their work. The Carson Scholars gives them the opportunity to shine and get recognized for their efforts both in and out of school. The staff is also very friendly and dies an awesome job with the rewards banquet and making our kids feel special.
My daughter was chosen as a Carson Scholar in her junior year. It is so nice to see students rewarded for their academic successes and community involvement. Lots of times, accolades are given only to athletes, Carson Scholars allows students whose talents lie in other areas, to be celebrated (and motivated). The awards ceremonies are very nice and I look forward to following Dr. Carson's continued successes. I am proud to say I am a parent of a Carson Scholar!!
