I had a great experience and HIGHLY recommend Cars 4 Causes! I decided that I wanted to donate my sailboat to a particular charity. Not surprisingly, they did not have the capacity to handle such a donation. They referred me to Cars 4 Causes. I was able to donate the sailboat through their boat division called Boats 4 Causes. The process was incredibly simple and efficient. Their staff (Lorraine in particular) were courteous and professional. They effectively marketed, negotiated and sold the boat for a fair value. I confirmed that the charity received the majority of the sale price and they were thrilled and grateful! Cars 4 Causes did a great job and I'm very happy with the entire transaction. Three and a half stars for an organization that was forced to shut down and is being sued by the State of California for fraud for keeping most of the donations intended for the charities it listed.
This goes to show you how unreliable and worthless Great Nonprofits is.
And now of course, with the very public "outing" of what this so called charity is really about we should also question the veracity of those supporters self identified as supporters of Cars 4 Causes and also as working in the non profit industry as well. I have seen their 990... It is obvious that they have been lining their own pockets for some time now. A car donation, a boat donation would be better off in the hands of any charity that did not do business with these people.
The list of charities not to donate to can easily be found on their website. And add to that any charity that spends charitable dollars on pay-per-click or "sponsored" ads or search results on the Internet. There is no greater misuse of charitable dollars...
YES YOU READ THAT HEADLINE RIGHT! I FOUND MYSELF IN THE THROWS OF POVERTY DUE TO A VERY BITTER DIVORCE. DEALT WITH THE DIVORCE LOSING EVERYTHING INCLUDING MY CAR (ATTORNEYS COST MONEY) Could not afford attorney so lost by default. AFTER LOSING MY CAR LOST MY JOB WHICH MEANS LOST MY HOME.
So now lets go back to the part of losing my job due to no transportation. My credit by this time had become useless. So I went to Catholic Charities (which offered me a meal) this is nice, went to Salvation Army was offered food, this again is nice, do you see a pattern here yet? Went to Community Presbyterian to fill out a request for transportation for work ( you see you have to have open availability for work ), well needless to say never heard back from them. The pattern you see is not to help those get out of their situation but to keep them there with here is a meal (yes again nice gesture) what about self sufficiency or the willingness to work are we to be destined to be part of a street culture, is this really where you want your donated dollars to go? I need a car to get to work and not be part of a culture you donations actually go to. So if by chance there is some one willing to give me this opportunity I will pay out of each pay check to you for this opportunity!! Not asking for charity but the opportunity to get on my feet!! Have a job offer!!
Still no car for work!
I am embarrassed that this fraudulent organization exists in our nonprofit world. As the executive director of a nonprofit, I accepted an invitation from Cars4Causes to affiliate some years ago. We gave them visibility on our website, and never heard from them.
Last August my cousin donated a car and an RV, and still we heard nothing. Numerous phone calls to them last fall mostly went unanswered, but the substance of two actual conversations were stall tactics. Today, a full seven months after the donations, we received a $25 check with no explanation of how they arrived at this sum.
We went to the Internet to find nothing but scathing reviews of Cars4Causes, and most of the experiences were identical to ours. Having now come to the conclusion that Cars4Causes is a scam, I wonder how many other donations were made in our name that we didn't know about. This is the kind of fraudulent behavior that causes the integrity of all of us to be questioned.

The wonderful folks at Cars 4 Causes made it possible for our foster daughter to receive a 2004 Toyota Camry. This car was truly a gift from God. Grace will need it for college to become a registered nurse. When we picked up the car, we had the pleasure of meeting Pat, Anthony, and all of the people behind the scenes who make this sort of thing happen. They were as thrilled to present the car to Grace as she was to receive it. We will never be able to thank them enough.
As a Board member I have been impressed with the passion and commitment of the organization and the dedication to the charities and individuals Cars 4 Causes supports. It is a great organization full of great people with great purpose.
I have been on the Board of Directors for Cars 4 Causes for over 4 years and have been very impressed with the care and concern that they show towards doing the best job to help support each one of the Charities they work with.
I have worked as an executive for non profits for over 20 years - the ability to generate income, without a huge investment of time or money or other limited resources is always appreciated. Cars 4 Causes makes it possible for non profits to enhance their fund raising capabilities by encouraging their constituents to donate vehicles that are no longer being used. They take the burden out of this approach to fund raising by handling all aspects of the donation from pick up to sale.
This unique non profit, that helps other non profits, has a highly dedicated staff and leaders who truly believe in being of service to others. They make the lives of others better on many levels and with a service that makes the managers of non profits grateful!!
Cars 4 Causes provides a valuable service to their donors and charity partners. They are passionate about what they do and it shows. Their commitment to getting the highest possible value for donated vehicles is unsurpassed. No one has more experience in car donations than Cars 4 Causes. They make donating your vehicle easy.
Cars 4 Causes contribution to the non-profit community is surpassed only by its passion and commitment to helping others. This organization has supported over 17,000 charitable causes by applying its expertise in turning donated vehicles into cash for charity. In times of disaster and need, they have been there to support their local community by providing donated vehicles to help individuals and families rebuild or improve their lives. Cars 4 Causes has consistently realized, on average, the highest sales proceeds from donated vehicle sales than any other vehicle donation charity or fundraiser as evidenced by their annual IRS Form 990 results. Higher sales proceeds means a greater tax deduction for their donors and more money to support their donors’ favorite causes. Cars 4 Causes is a great group of people who love what they do and work tirelessly to get the most for their donors and their supported charities.
Cars4Causes and Anthony Glenn are wonderful supporters of Five Acres and we are very appreciative of the partnership! - Jennifer Berger, Chief Advancement Officer, Five Acres
I am a CEO of another nonprofit and came to this organization with a compelling reason to help a family who's 2-year-old daughter was dying in the intensive care unit at City of Hope when their car was repossessed. Not only did Cars 4 Causes say they were unable to secure a car for the family, they said they would not be able to provide a car even if the family waited 6 months for it! I don't believe Cars 4 Causes is a credible organization and certainly does NOT provide cars to people in need. They also pay a very small amount of money to charities who donate cars to them. They do not make it worth your while to work with them or ask them to help those in need. My question is why do they call themselves a charity when they do little to no charitable work.

We want to respond and let you know that we hear you and we understand your concern. Throughout our 17 year history, we receive an average of 300 requests for vehicles per month and while we do our very best to meet this need, regrettably, we are not able to meet them all. On the occasions where we do give vehicles, it’s of utmost importance that they be safe and reliable. The majority of vehicles we process do not meet this criteria. Additionally, the bulk of our inventory is allocated to be sold on behalf of the charities we serve. We are a charity because our programs provide a public benefit. Agreed, it is a very expensive program to run, we wish we could give every penny away – idealism and practicality often conflict. To date we are honored and proud to have supported nearly 18,000 purpose-driven charities, each now closer to reaching their objectives of serving their respective constituents.
Cars4Causes has been supporting Smile Train since 2004 and have been a wonderful asset to our team as well as our donors. We are often offered vehicle donations and are, unfortunately, unable to handle these donations on our own. Cars4Causes has been amazing in handling these donations and have helped us provide many cleft lip and palate surgeries over the ten years we have worked with together.

I was surprised at the one reviewers neative comments as that has not been my experience. As a CEO of a not-for-profit organization Cars 4 Causes has been very responsive and friendly when I've contacted them. Our relationship goes way back. The financial support that they, and their donors, have provided has made a significant difference in our ability to do some of those "difficult to get funding for" kinds of things - for example a new roof on our facility. I believe it is a win, win, win relationship for the donors, Cars 4 Causes, and our organization.
Cars 4 Causes has been supporting AIDS Services Foundation Orange County since 2003. It's great to have a resource to direct people to who want to donate a vehicle to support our organization. I know we can refer our donors to Cars 4 Causes and they will handle everything! Thanks to everyone at Cars 4 Causes for your on-going support of our agency and the work we do. You all are the BEST!

100% scam. This fraudulent organization should be stopped from deceiving both the public and reputable charities. They pay a miniscule amount on donated vehicles, claiming "operational expenses." The Executive Director avoids calls when confronted with questions about their legitimacy, and her lackey consistently lies for her when checks are allegedly forthcoming.
A reprehensible company that preys on well-meaning people and charities.
